Our cat has fallen out the window.

DD1's bedroom window was open yesterday. She was tormenting the cat, cat was on windowsill and DD1 pushed her!

LunaghCat fell about 15 feet. Not sure if she hit anything but landed with an almighty crash..
She's bolted, and I cannot find her anywhere. She's not coming when called and I've been out looking for her today and not even heard a miaow.

She's not even a year old yet. I just want my cat back. Not seen her since yesterday afternoon.
This isn't looking good is it? I'm worried she's hurt her legs and can't jump to get home...and the shock factor too. She's not eaten since yesterday afternoon either.

The cat is now home. Thank God for that.
She is asleep on my bed upstairs, after gorging down a pouch of her fave Whiskas flavour and some biccies. She's used the dirtbox, had a lick and a wash and is now on my bed snoozing.
Her legs all look fine, pads fine, claws all there. One of her pupils is slightly bigger than the other though so am wondering if she has mild concussion? Just so relieved that my beautiful companion has come home at last.

PDSA for her tomorrow morning. Got all the paperwork through at last!

Regarding DD1. Camhs once mentioned she was on her way to having a Conduct disorder. Since the cat has been home, DD1 has pushed DD2 against the door frame and hurt all her back.
DD2 has also been called 'diseased' cos I took her to docs this morning cos she has a bit of thrush.
Been helping DD1 getting all her certificates ready as she has her GCSE / BTec interview on Thursday, and because one certificate is missing, she yells at me and calls me 'stupid, lazy and worthless' and to 'shutup you stupid bitch'. There is not one ounce of empathy in her body. as long as you have money in your pocket, then she's happy. Her father (exdh) threatened to put her through the window on Friday . He's about as much use as a chocolate firegrate. Pays virtually nothing and does nothing.

We have SS involvement. As much good as they are. Supposed to be helping when all they do is create more stress and threaten to take my children away!

Anyways, this is a pet thread LOL

Will keep you all posted on how she is doing.

I am glad puss is back and seems happy enough!

I wish I had suggestions for your dd or your situation or how to make ss do what they are supposed to do but I don't. It sounds like a real magic wand moment and I am sorry I/we cannot help.

PurpleOne · 24/03/2009 03:34

I know KC. Magic wands don't help. It dont magic the pain away...but I love my pets. We have a kitty, 2 guinea pigs and 2 fish.

But LunaghCat is snoozing on my bed, snuggled up with me fleece blanket. (shes a wool sucker and a stickler for fleece)
The guineas are here in with me too, and they are so noisy! Both brothers and one of them I'm sure is gay. So does that purring sound, like a helicopter. The guineas are a true joy to have too. Such characters!

Kitty keeps getting up and smurgling, and making her biscuits every so often, She hates the guineas being in here too. I prefer them both to be shut off when the other pet is out TBH. The pets aint the issue...it's DD1.
DD2 woke up an hour ago and saw her. Stroked her and gave her a bit of loving. DD2 will sleep well tonight. (she's 11) And so will I. No windows left open, and no worrying. No falls. No bolting cats.

Time fo a cuddle now, she's wet nosing me for a kiss on my cheek, she wants loving!

Glad she is home and hope you get some help with DD soon. Take care.

dragonflygirl · 24/03/2009 09:56

Has anyone used an automatic pet feeder and would you recommend one? We go away for the odd weekend (couple of nights) and would like to leave our cat wet food at the usual times. Someone will come in once or twice to make sure she's OK but she does like to keep to her regular mealtimes!

dragonflygirl · 24/03/2009 09:59

Oh , obviously posted the last message in the wrong place - not at appropriate for this thread! Am not as heartless as all that...

edam · 24/03/2009 10:01

dragongirl, think you should start a new thread about that - might get better responses and this isn't really the place.

Purple, so glad the cat is back in one piece. And sorry you are having such a tough time with dd and getting no help from SS. Have you seen an educational psychologist? Could school refer you?

edam · 24/03/2009 10:01

cross post!

I was going to say exactly what dittany said.

Am glad cat is OK.

OrmIrian · 24/03/2009 11:40

Glad to hear mog is home.

Good luck with DD. She sounds as if she's having a hard time too

beanieb · 24/03/2009 11:42

Keep an eye on her eye. It could be that the fall has detatched a retina. My cat recently went blind and they said a knock or a shock can make this happen.

gizmo · 24/03/2009 12:13

Pleased she's back Purpleone. And I really hope your real DD1 will surface soon, not the little madam you've got at the moment!

LackaDAISYcal · 24/03/2009 12:37

PO I missed this yesterday but saw your post on fb.

I hope you have got on OK at the vets this morning, slighlty dilated pupil sounds worrying.

Has DD1 had any more to say about it? Is she showing any remorse at all for what she did? I know it's no excuse but if you were trying to keep her in so she didn't get pounced on, but DD2 wants her to have kittens, is that why she did it?

Thankfully you have your PDSA paperwork through so you should be able to get her neutered for free.

Jux · 24/03/2009 15:02

PO, I've just finished reading some of your old threads. I am really sorry I was flippant about your dd.

Just want to say that I am gobsmacked; the stuff you have to deal with and the way you manage to carry on. You are admirable in your determination. Great respect to you.

PurpleOne · 25/03/2009 01:16

Thanks Jux and others. Really, I didn't see it as flippancy. Was just worried about my cat!

Jux, I really wish SS would say that about me. This is wrong, that's wrong, blah blah blah.

LunaghCat is absolutely fine. Was told to keep an eye on her eye as she prob took a knock as she landed. Doesn't seem to be a prob at the moment, just have to watch for changes in behaviour. In case of brain damage I suppose? They pupil looks ok for now. Proper size in relation, and react to light well.
She's not been out tonight, and we spent the whole day together. Well, when she leapt up on my bed last night, she never moved. And she stayed there all damn day too! She only moved for her breakfast and dinner. She's currently yowling at my window asking to be let out...NO CHANCE! Keeping an eye on her for a few days.

DD1 has begged for her guineas back. TBH they kept me awake all damn night, but she still hasn't got them back yet. Lunagh on the other hand, IS NOT impressed with the guineas in my bedroom either.

Asked the friendly PDSA man if he could tell if she was preg, gave him dates etc. He said it was too soon to check and I've either got to wait for her next season (2 weeks ish) or take her back and get it confirmed. Or get her neutered. So have booked that for 2 weeks time IYSWIM.
Not sure I could go through with neutering if she is pregnant. Never agreed with abortion throughout my whole life. We will deal with it when/if the time comes I suppose.

OP posts:
LackaDAISYcal · 25/03/2009 10:17

I'm glad she seems fine PO and I hope DD1 is suitably chastened by it all.

If she is pregnant, you can always let her have this lot of kittnes and then get her neutered after that. I'm not sure I could go through having my pet's pregnancy terminated either.

bella29 · 25/03/2009 10:20

Glad she seems okay, PO.

Wishing you all the best - you have more to cope with than most of us, and you still kepp a sense of humour!

As they say, respect

PurpleOne · 26/03/2009 22:37

To take awy my sense of humour, they'd have to kill me first!

Just to say I was thinking of you, and hope everything's a bit better
