A kitten or two...?

Okay, so which would you have if given the choice. One or two?

chocolateteapot · 03/12/2008 16:29

Two once they are older, but it is pretty hard going having two kittens tearing around whilst they are little.

dinny · 03/12/2008 16:40

two, they are a lovely couple of nutters!

and they are best mousers in pairs

TheInvisibleManDidIt · 03/12/2008 16:42

Two!! or 3 or 4.....

SpaceTrain · 03/12/2008 16:48

Two - definitely. They keep each other company.

Smee · 03/12/2008 16:49

So how much more mad is two...?

OP posts:
MadreInglese · 03/12/2008 16:49

TWO TWO TWO!

SpaceTrain · 03/12/2008 17:01

Twice as mad. But twice as fun too - making them jump up to chase a piece of string, or both chasing after a ball. Aww...I want kittens again!

TheInvisibleManDidIt · 03/12/2008 17:07

Yeah,it will be a bit mad for a while (hope you don't like your curtains too much)

But they will be great company for eachother, and you'llget twice the cuddles and purrs.

Space train,I'd love to get another kitten but dh would freak- we already have a 15yr old, and a 2 yr old,and he's allergic to them!

Smee · 03/12/2008 17:30

Does it make them less friendly if they've got one another for company?

OP posts:
TheInvisibleManDidIt · 03/12/2008 17:37

No. When I first got my older cat she was one of a pair. They'd have great fun playing together, cosied up to each other to sleep, but were both soo affectionate, and if one was getting a cuddle, the other would jump up to get the same attention.

The other half of my 'pair' got run over several years ago. The remaining one pined for weeks for her, she was as sad as I was. That's the only downside I've experienced though- if something happens to one the other really feels it

MadamDeathstarOverBethlehem · 03/12/2008 17:41

I would definitely get two. They are company for each other while you are out or if you are away and they will play and wrestle together.

We have three (two 8 year olds and a 12 year old). One of the 8 year olds will twitch the end of her tail and the other two chase it. They also use her side as a pillow in the cold weather. After dinner the 12 year old lies up next to her and holds her front paws. He is breathing his nasty cat fume up her nose though so she isn't too taken with this.

moshie · 03/12/2008 17:56

My theory about my mad cat is if he'd had another for company perhaps he would have been happy pouncing on that instead of climbing the wall and ruining the wallpaper.
Not sure though, we did have two that used to climb the curtains together.
No help at all really ,am I?

Smee · 03/12/2008 18:43

Ah but we have no curtains. All blinds

OP posts:
TheInvisibleManDidIt · 03/12/2008 19:36

Oh that won't stop them

SantasNuttySTaff · 03/12/2008 19:49

i went for 2 (sisters)

lovely cute lil rascals (i wont go into the lists of but's)

cats are bonkers and will enrich your life and make you giggle :-) enjoy

i love my moggies :-)

TipsyFairydifferentID · 03/12/2008 19:52

if you're out in the day, definitely 2. Or you wont have anything left of your furniture/ curtains/ carpets etc. We have a b/s pair and yes they fight, but will quite happily double team me for affection and play together still at nearly 6 years old.

EnchantedwithEdwardCullen · 03/12/2008 19:52

Take mine! please ....

lol

Smee · 03/12/2008 19:59

i know I'll have lots of buts, but I like the bonkers bits. Sadly I don't mind if they trash the place as it's pretty trashed already . I particularly hope they trash the sofa as it's DH's from before we got together and I've always hated it. Wonder how I can persuade them to do that first...

OP posts:
SantasNuttySTaff · 03/12/2008 20:42

get 2 and your sofa will be shredded in a matter of months i assure you, problem solved

cats do not scratch scratchingposts even if you somther them with catnip (tis all a myth) they are however magneticly drawn to the sofa

get 2, it will be great, my 2 are like lil furry humans, fergie actually tucks my dd in at night and then guards her door until me and dh go to bed then she tucks us in too, scrat gives cuddles (two paws round the neck) shes like a scarf :-)

get 2 you wont regret it even with the buts

SantasNuttySTaff · 03/12/2008 20:44

sorry repetative use of "get 2"

bodiddly · 03/12/2008 20:52

we started off with one but had to get another when he used to cry at night as we used to have to lock him in the kitchen to stop him running around like a loon all night! Definitely go for 2 that are from the same litter if you can - they will enjoy each other's company especially if you have to go away on holiday and leave them for a while!

Lovesdogsandcats · 03/12/2008 21:24

definately 2!!

2 no more work/probs than 1.
And company for each other..most animals thrive better with their own kind, and on top of that, cats are pack animals.

If you start off from word go with scratching post, they wont touch your sofas.

This is best one you can buy :

Smee · 03/12/2008 21:57

Thanks LD&C's but I WANT THEM TO EAT THE SOFA. Maybe I should hide kitty treats underneath the cushions Okay, so you've convinced me and now I want two. Next question: how do I convince DH..?

OP posts:
SantasNuttySTaff · 03/12/2008 22:07

take him with you to choose (after a beer or 2) and then if he falls in love with one you say "but i really love this one" and then turn to the owner and say we'll have both (dh will be embarassed to kick up a fuss) and bobs ur uncle

thats how it worked with my dh

p.s. make v small holes in fabric of sofa and pop catnip in said holes ......bye bye sofa :-)

Good Luck and enjoy you barmy furball NBF's :-)

Rolacola · 03/12/2008 22:10
  1. They like the company.
