I have my parents little yorkie here while they go on holiday, they dropped him off yesterday and today he said been struggling to breathe and making a horrible noise, so I phone my parents and ask what they want to me to do, they said to let him calm down and he would be fine. Well anyway he got worse and was sick everywhere, so I phone the emergancy vet and explained the sitution and that my parents are away and that they are on benifits, and she said that they would see him straight away at no charge, so Misdee and I rushed him over the college vets, and then on the way his tonuge went blue, so I carried him in and as soon as we walked in they took him away and said someone would be with us soon. The vet came down and explained that his windpipe has prolly collaped and that they had given him a jab to calm his breathing and he was in an o2 mask. When I got home DH said the vet had phoned again and that he is much worse. I phoned her and she said that he is struggling and suffering and we need to decide if we risk the jounery to another vet where they can do more investigations or operation (but he most likely won't make the jounery) or to let him go.
I had to then phone my parents and tell them all this, they are coming down now, the vet is going to try and keep him alive till my parents get home. Misdee and me feel so crap....

misdee · 19/03/2005 23:19

thank goodness. i'll call mum and dad in the mornng for full update.

sullysmum · 19/03/2005 23:50

This is quite common in small breeds, its called collapsing trachea, my dogs do it and its awful and you have to stroke their throats and calm them down, then they are okay again.

sparklymieow · 20/03/2005 00:05

the vet said that he had got himself so excited and worked up running round my garden with my dog and kids, that he had gone too far to calm down and he was very close to death when we got him there...

You two !!!!!

Undoubtedly your actions ONLY helped. He needed oxygen and proper attention and is doubtless being treated like a king, and as others have posted - on a vet vs. NHS discussion - quite possibly better than a human in a hospital.

Wishing Yorkie Boy a speedy recovery and a long life, and if you didn't smoke through all this, Shiny Puddy Cat, YOU ARE DOING VERY WELL INDEED.

You may soon be promoted to a Stretch Merc.

sparklymieow · 20/03/2005 00:42

The vet was so shocked that he made it TBH, little git, he only did it coz my parents dared to leave him with me!!!
He need to lose weight, have very litle exerise and not allowed to get excited... I was so worried that my parents would blame me for him getting so bad, letting him run about in the garden but they said that I saved him, and not to worry.
All well and good now

hub2dee can I have a stretch limo please??

OP posts:
hub2dee · 20/03/2005 00:56

Only if you behave responsibly and don't lure strange young men into the expansive back seat. Or cruise town with your trouble making sis.

You can have a stretch merc only if you wear a tie and only so long as you don't smoke.

In other words, it's up to you what you have..... like so much else in life.

Night Night. Get some rest. Drink lots of water. Schedule some busy stuff for next few days (apart from vet !) to keep you occupied. Tell minky just how hard it's been - NOT .

Well done. Go for another day.

sparklymieow · 20/03/2005 01:04

Oh but I want to go on the pull with my sis.... just once please boss!!!
I have to take Misdee to Toysrus tomorrow to get a trampoline and then I am doing a couple of tip run to get rid of my crap from the garden and then we are doing the rest of the gardening, Dh want to plant some flowers and fix the decking for the BBQ we are having next week, so I will be busy.
On monday I have the normal school runs and preschool run and then DD1 has a hearing check so am busy again.... Shouldn't be a problem to stay away from the fags....

OP posts:
hub2dee · 20/03/2005 08:52

sparkly !

You saw what happened in Eastenders when people started using the company hire cars for personal gain....

No. You and misdee must behave like respectful English ladies. You may possibly invite misdee's strippers in for JUST ONE HOUR, for tea and scones. AND THAT'S IT.

If you go back to the fags, the video gets released. Be warned !

Glad to hear you're gonna be busy. Remember, these first few days are the worst for the physical cravings, and afterwards it's just the social habit you've got to break, and also the personal crutches you've got to destroy (like fags help me cope with stress / make me more sociable / make me chill out etc.). You've obviously already demolished the first !

Keep going !

misdee · 20/03/2005 09:45

respectful? pah!

sparklymieow · 20/03/2005 10:56

Respectable english ladies!!!! What are you on?? me and Misdee??? You are having a laff!!!
Off to Toyusrus now....

'misdee and I,' Lady sparkly, is more polite for a Lady of society.

misdee · 20/03/2005 15:45
