Is it normal for cats to act like they own the house?

Does anyone else have a cat who behaves like they’re completely in charge? 😅 Mine blocks doorways, stares at guests, and insists on sitting in the middle of everything like royalty.
Is this just typical cat behaviour, or is there something I should be doing differently?
Would love to hear your experiences!

Have you never met a cat before, @james5555?

As it has been said:

Early Man saw dog, thought “He looks useful” and set about to domesticate him.

I think Cat has the harder job.

Are you new to cat ownership OP??
And by this I mean - you being owned by a cat!

Cats aim to train you to do exactly what they want. My nephew has one of those balls which you charge up with a USB. It rolls about and the cat stalks it. When it stops moving the cat pushes it back to where he is sitting and miows for him to recharge it!

I have two. I would say they sleep on my bed but really its their bed now which they kindly allow me to share. I have to kind of slip my body in somewhere between theirs as I never want to disturb them! Luckily its a big bed.

100%. Cats are the only animals to have domesticated themselves. They even taught themselves to miaow. They only ever do it in the presence of humans.

One day, about 10,000 years ago, a cat decided that a warm bed and access to food scraps in exchange for purrs was a pretty good idea.
