Little Dogs in Prams

Is this a new trend? I saw several of these this summer. They weren't fancy prams for show, just dark, practical looking ones.

I find it a bit odd as surely even small dogs need exercise. Although, I once knew a chihuahua who had to be carried for the first half of his daily walk, or he would run back home!

At least a pram is better than these bonkers things...

I have one of those ‘bonkers things’ to take my cat to the vet in. It’s far easier to carry and it extends so he has more room on long car journeys.

I stopped someone to say hello to her dog because it looked so cute. Apparently he is very old so his owner takes him in the pram to a field, then lets him have some exercise and then back in the pram.

I just wondered @Idontknowhatnametochoose - my assumption would have been that someone using a mobility scooter would be able to get on and off, like you have said. There used to be a woman near me who walked her dog that way, but she would just sail on ahead and leave the dog to it. I never challenged her because I did not want to shame her if she could not get on and off, but it really pissed me off to see her dog crapping everywhere while she motored off into the distance.

Sorry if I sounded a bit short- I wasn't having the best day yesterday. I see now why you asked and yes, it's tricky saying something when someone is on a scooter but unless getting on and off is a serious problem for her she should definitely pick up her dogs poo! I wouldn't dream of not doing it as I hate the sight of it on pavements.

Oh and I saw a woman with a cat in a pram on the beach.

People who walk cats are particularly bonkers!

It reminds me that last year I did a huge double take when looking at a pram on the local beach as the lady had taken her cat there - for some fresh air apparently.

Aside from the issues of being ridiculous etc id be terrified the cat would escape.

Its usually for older dogs that can't walk
Having said that if it was a matter of walking my dog and then popping him in when hes had enough thats one thing (not that I could push my lump anyway) but if I had a dog that couldn't walk at all I would probably make the difficult decision to let them go.

I dunno, it's about quality of life IMO. I have an elderly KC cav. She's got various ailments, including MVD which virtually all KCC's get. She enjoys being a queen and shoved about, but can't walk far enough due to her heart to enjoy things. She eats, plays, wags her tail all the time...so she has a buggy. I feel like an idiot don't get me wrong, but I love her and so the stares are manageable, for me. ❤
