She's only about 3 months old and was the runt of the litter, she has been small and scrawny since. She is housed with her sister who looks fine.
She was fine when I fed her last night, but this morning she seems to be dragging her back legs behind her and looks even thine she's not wheeping either this morning.
I can't get her in to the vets until 5.50 this evening.

Any ideas what might be wrong with her our what the future holds

I might be totally wrong, but I think I remember reading on MN somewhere that this might be a sign of a dietary deficiency. Does she have plenty of fresh veg to eat?

burstingbug · 04/02/2008 10:06

Yes she does. my other 2 Gpigs seem fine.

This link might help, though it sounds like she is getting the vit C she needs.

I really hope it works out ok for her.

burstingbug · 04/02/2008 10:16

Thanks for the link.
I need to go to the pet shop to get more food for them today anyway, so will look for vit c.
Will also get some more veg too.
Her feet are bending the wrong way too as the drags herself along.

Thanks Thread,
Logging off now to get ready to take DS1 to pre-school & pet shop.
Will post again before I take Honey to the vet.

She's eating at least. I put various veg in the hutch and she did munch on it (celery carrot & cucumber). Still not using her back legs and sometimes her whole back end rolls sideways.

I don't think DS's have picked her up or dropped her. Will pick her up in a mo and see how her back end feels.
It's not looking like a great outcome for her.

We have a wooden stick thing which you can bend into various shapes, it's in an arch shape atm. she could have fallen off of that, but it's not that high.
Getting no response from her legs when I move them. Not like when you pick them up usually and their lil' legs go 19 to to the dozen trying to get you off them

I know vit c deficiency can cause symptoms like this. I put effervescent vit c tablets in their drinking water-I think it's one tablet per litre of water. Obviously smaller pieces for smaller bottles.
Hope your piggy is ok.

There's pics on my profile of Honey & Poppy taken on New Years eve when I got them. I've had my big boy Marmite since Sept.

Hi there.
Well the vet couldn't find a spinal problem. She said her feet were cold and she had to press quite hard to get a response. She did think she was paralysed, then the vet thought she saw Honey move her legs a 4 day anti inflam injection was given, and going for a calcium injection tomorrow.
She has already had a slight improvement and she is trying to move her legs more.
Fingers crossed she's gonna be ok!
