Stalemate over what to call our new dog

We are getting a Chocolate Labrador puppy in 4 weeks. We met the breeder yesterday and picked out our gorgeous little girl puppy. Our issue is what to call her. She is our first family pet.
The kids love the name Moona, I love Maggie and DH loves Maple. Any views on these names or how we can break the deadlock?

Omg ❤️. Her name doesn’t matter. As long as you’re comfortable hollering it in public.

MavisMonkey · 15/03/2020 18:56

I'm happy with any of the three names - I don't mind yelling any of them in the woods.

Maple is probably my least favourite- it sounds a bit harsh to my ear but my husband will be doing most of the heavy lifting so that's why it's still in contention.

The kids are 5 and 8. We tried pulling the names out of a hat and it was Maple so the kids just kept going with more rounds until they got Moona.

She's really gorgeous isn't she Smile

I've changed my mind. I'm impressed you've got a 5 and 8 year old to agree on anything - therefore they get my vote!

I like Cocoa, she’s absolutely gorgeous.

Moona might end up being the winner purely because the kids like it so much and it's mine and husbands second favourite. Seems like the best compromise.

I've just realised Maggie could get shortened to Mags and I'm not so keen on that.

This is worse than choosing names for the kids!

Totally adorable whatever you decide to name her.

To be fair, labs answer to anything. Mine respond happily to "Get back in here you little cunts!" and have learned to translate "For Christs Sake!" to mean "go to your bed and sit amongst the carnage, innocently wagging your tail while looking at me like I'm insane."

Honeyroar · 15/03/2020 21:02

Is Moona a real name or did they make it up? I’d just think of Moana.

aprilfools19 · 17/03/2020 09:15

Mabel, millie, molly, misty, Marley, Miley. I love Maggie out of your choices though!!

HRH2020 · 17/03/2020 09:43

Moona! Or Luna?

Staffori · 22/03/2020 18:27

Moona means something very rude in Greek. If there is a sizeable Greek community where you are, I'd avoid it for that reason.

Lots of nice two-syllable M-names if that's what you're looking for: Molly, Maisie, Millie etc.

Spied · 22/03/2020 18:31

You all want a name beginning with 'M'.
Can't agree- so call her Emmy.
If you get my line of thought!

She’s looking like a Morag to me.

She’s lovely 🥰

Notwiththeseknees · 22/03/2020 18:41

Definitely a Mabel. I think of Moaner when I see Moona...
