we acquired a green budgie & twenty white mice (originally 3 but didn't check the sexes) thanks to our cats...

Yes sorry nappyaddict, no idea why it sent a eCheque. It normally just takes it from my bank account. Sorry

that's fine as long as you don't mind waiting.

We have 2 cats.
One brings me the occasional mouse or bird, he has brought me a live blackbird and live mouse before. Thankfully we don't have a catflap anymore, so the live presents have to stay outside. He does like throwing them at the patio windows though.

My other cat has only ever brought me a bag of mince, and a raw pork chop. I'm not sure if that makes him very stupid or very clever.

Unchief - AugustusRookWhooosh is right. Your cats present is its way of contributing to the household. If you get annoyed at them they're likely to bring you something bigger.
A friend of mine was very upset about having to move house, she spent the whole week crying. Over the course of a that week her cat brought her a mouse, a small bird, a bigger bird, a rabbit, and on the final day the cat went and ripped the front of the neighbours rabbit hutch to bring my friend the injured hare the neighbours kids had been nursing back to health!

Call them vicious little murderers, but make sure you do it in a nice affectionate tone of voice.

I wish I hadn't read that last post.

I spent 3.30am to 4.15am looking for the cat specifically so I could lock her out after she deposited a freshly killed mouse next to my pillow - while I was sleeping.

We live near a lot of deer - could I be due a venison quilt anytime soon????

When we first moved to this house we didn't let the cats out for about 3 weeks. They spent most of that 3 weeks eyeing up the cows in the field opposite.

The cats learnt the laws of perspective quiet quickly once they regained their freedom.

Although if they ever do bring me a cow I'm sure I'll be too impressed to shout at them. Even more so if they throw it at the patio window as they do with the mice.

I will await future developments...and we can compare notes. And swap meat.

A work colleague of DH told us about his parent's cat.

They lived along the coast from Brighton (Worthing I think) and they came down to find that DM (darling moggy) had brought a seagull into the kitchen.

It wasn't dead (just dead annoyed) and was screeching malevolently from the wall cupboards.
