My cat has left an exquisitley preserved rats muzzle on my bed,and a cock chaffinches head, but the "piece de resistance" was a warm mouse which had been in the midday sun, having murdered it days before, and i had not noticed it,she moved it where it exploded between my bare toes in the back doorway when i trod on it.

My tiny tiny little cat brought in a live pigeon, through the cat flap, and deposited it (still flapping) at the bottom of the stairs. I heard this almighty racket and looked down to see this thing flapping around with the two cats just watching it. I rescued it, but unfortunately it had a broken wing and had to be put down. But at the relative size of cat and pigeon.

The other wonderful incident, was an unpleasant smell in the kitchen and the same cat sniffing around the fridge. We checked everything, finally moved the fridge and out popped a putrifying mouse. Lurvely.

Actually, I hate this side of having cats. Thank god only one of the them is a killer. We don't have a cat flap any more so she stays outside until she's finished with them. I still manage to rescue a fair few live creatures though.

Oh FFS,we all love ANIMALS or we wouldnt own sodding CATS would we,our dogs eat Pedigree Chum, would we want to witness Rover dispatching the nearest Aberdeen Angus?
Spare me Puhleese,I am vegetarian, but my cat bloody well isnt,i rescue birds where possible but mice,?no chance,i cant get anywhere near!!!!!!
He hotfoots into the shrubbery,
and if we cant share a communal shudder over our animals habits then god,GET A SENSE OF HUMOUR?!

amateurarsedoctor · 15/07/2007 22:36

Stewl, scarlet! WTF are they?

onefootinthegravy · 15/07/2007 22:39

My cat brought in a live BAT one night, a while ago when I lived on my own pre dh & dd. I had to catch it and throw it outside - God it was awful it took me ages to get it - and what a bloody noise it made - this was about 3am in the morning so I couldn't really call on anyone for help either. Not the best experience I've had in the middle of the night !!

AugustusRookWhooosh · 15/07/2007 22:39

Unchief-do not tell* your cats off for the presentsthey bring you!
According to cat psychologists they will think they have not doen well enough and go and catch more in an attempt to please you.
Therefore-praise every catch (however dreadful for you) and you may find things change....

When DH used to work away from home, the killer cat would without fail bring things in last thing at night. The worst one was a mouse that was in the bedroom and I couldn't find it. I had to go to bed knowing it was in there - ugh. Anyhow I woke up at around 1.30am to hear a scratching noise. Got myself out of bed and actually found the mouse. I caught it and took it down the garden in my PJs. It was the stuff of nightmares I tell you.

Mind you, the other cat (again when DH was away), took to peeing in the corner of the bedroom at 4 in the morning. So I'd be jumping out of bed and cleaning up cat piss in the middle of the night.

Why have I still got these creatures? (Well DS loves them).

My 3 yr old found a baby rabbits ears and arse under the climbing frame, she thought the bunnies mummy could make it better,i took that as a compliment on my parenting skills and chucked the carcass in the bushes when she went off to play elsewhere...

sparklygothkat · 15/07/2007 23:32

it was alive!!!! I put it outside and it hopped away. I wouldn't have let my cats kill it..

that is why i wont have a cat.

Biglips · 15/07/2007 23:40

oops.....its "Starlings" not Scarlets!! (birds)

Pixel · 16/07/2007 00:06

I've rescued a lizard and a frog from our cat today. He doesn't kill them though, just pats them with his paw.
What I'm finding most revolting with all this wet weather at the moment is that he keeps on coming in with slugs attached to him. I hate slugs, they make me feel sick and he had a massive black one on him today. He has long fur and they stick on and get all matted up so I end up having to trim them off with scissors. Poor cat is looking very moth-eaten at the mo with all the chunks of fur missing!
