My Cat Has Just Come On The School Run With Me!!!!!

We live a 5 minute walk to the school maybe a bit less. Its down our road round the corner and through the park/fields.
She started following me meowing very loudly and I ignored her, usually makes her give up and not follow too far.
She decided it would be fun to come all the way to the school gates and sit there waiting for me where the dogs wait

Dd4 was over the moon and the cat walked all the way home with her

How sweet

magnolia1 · 06/07/2007 12:12

I know but I was worried the little bugger would not follow us home as well as she followed us there or we would meet a dog in the field

MIne does this every single day, when we get to the war memorial (ooposite school) he sits there and screeches like buggery until I get back

he also knocks on the door using the knocker if he wants to come in

Mum used to have a cat would accomopany her and the dog on walks by tha canal LOL

magnolia1 · 06/07/2007 12:18

My cat come on walks to the playground with us and climbs on the equipment

magnolia1 · 06/07/2007 12:20

Omg, I though I was the only one with a cat that acts more like a dog

OP posts:
iota · 06/07/2007 12:21

my mum had a cat that used to go for walks with her and her dog. The cat would go through the gardens of all the houses along the road whilst my mum walked along the pavement

Peachy · 06/07/2007 12:21

Seems they are widespread LOL

Even trupod, who is toos cared to aprpoach people other than us, is ike a dog in the house- licking us (yesuch), etc

people who think cats are just independent souls who dont care are daft

dewmeadow · 06/07/2007 12:22

we have 3 cats and a dog and they all come for a walk , though we live in teh sticks so its usually up the lane or down teh field - I never knew cats acted like dogs before!

iota · 06/07/2007 12:23

I have to admit that my cat draws the line at fetching sticks

Jojay · 06/07/2007 12:24

Now I have a bizarre twist to this one.

Our cat doesn't usually come on walks with us, but when I went into labour, during the early stages, my husband and I went for a walk round our village to try and move things on a bit.

Obviously during contractions I was bent double, muttering obscenities etc, and the cat was with us for every step of the way!!

It was like he knew something was up, and came with us as we did laps of the village green.

He's never come with us on a walk again!

magnolia1 · 06/07/2007 12:25

Lol, mine will bring bits of rolled up paper to be flicked though

Our cat comes too (its v embarrassing though)

She is very vocal and sits outside the school howling until I reappear again.

On the way to school she does this stealth/stalking thing in the style of Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible We can ear her but not see her as she creeps through bushes and dashes between lamposts

On the way home thoiugh she walks straight down the middle of a quite busy road without a care in the world.

My cat saved my life

I was in bed and had been for a few days, I had hyperemsis with ds1. Dh came home and assumed I was resting, but I was unconscious and severely dehydrated. Cat kept biting him and running upsteirs until Dh came up and found me, and got me to hospital.

ThisIsDavinaPleaseDoNotSwear · 06/07/2007 12:49

bloody hell Peachy!

Peachy · 06/07/2007 12:50

Good cat eh?

We rescued both our cats,. worth every ounce of effort

magnolia1 · 06/07/2007 13:12

Omg Peachy thats brilliant

Our cat meows outside the door where the baby sleeps if he wakes up crying.

ahhh nice story.

and peachy that is amazing!

My cat is too shy to stray far from the back door. As for saving lives - maybe if it's quite near her dinner time I might stand a chance.

MaureenMLove · 06/07/2007 13:30

My cat used to meet me at the train station after work! He also wouldn't go outside for a wee if it was raining, unless he was under an umbrella. I have no idea who started that one, but he really wouldn't go, without me & my brolly!

magnolia1 · 06/07/2007 13:34

I have to chuck mine out in the rain to pee, the older one though not the one who followed me.

My older one would raher pee on my ironing pile if it's raining

Peachy - that's incredible. I've read the story out to our two, just in case I find myself in a similar situation and they need to know what to do.

Ours don't go for walks much, but we do have one that fetches - it brings in plastic ties from outside (the kind you use to fix plants with) and drops them by the sofa. You are then expected to throw it, cat brings it back to sofa, etc etc until one of you - usually me - is bored.

The other one brings large leaves in from outside, although it did once excel itself by bringing a weathered and crispy fiver through the cat flap. Despite being thoroughly fussed over, it's never repeated that though...

tissy · 06/07/2007 15:11

not as good as Peachy's story (think they can get some kind of medal for doing that sort of thing!), but once went round to a friend's house for some TLC, as my boyfriend had dumped me. Friend wasn't in, but knew where the spare key was, so went in and sat on sofa, waiting for her to turn up. While I sat there sobbing, their cat, who was usuallu a miserable bastard, and very unfriendly, came and snuggled up on my knee! It made me feel a lot better, but he never did it again after that!

sarahhal · 06/07/2007 15:11

When I was young we were out in the car and other cars kept on flashing us. After a few miles Dad decided to pull and see if something was wrong - our cat was on the car roof clinging on for dear life!!

Our cats always bring in mice and birds, but have only ever taken them into the DSes rooms once - on their first nights home from hospital
