Ideas on breeds please

I am looking to get a dog very soon and would like an idea on a breed. My ds is allergic to the shedding variety of dog so am looking at getting a dog that needs clipping/non-shedder/low shedder etc. I am at home most of day or out walking (am a dog walker!) so that isn't a problem. Also need a breed that is good with children (ds is 3 yrs). Also should I go for a bitch or dog? I have heard mixed thoughts on which works best with children. Am in south of england so if anyone knows of any good breeders that would be great too.

Many thanks

BB

Berniebear

How successful is your dog walking business?
I am considering doing this myself but dh thinks it wouldn't earn very much.

Do you find there is much demand? How long have you been doing it?

Hope you don't mind me being nosey!

Thanks

Hi sorry I haven't posted for a while.

Well Ralphie is here and is doing well. Loves his crate only a few accidents in the house and other than that all done outside. No probs at night either (basically the polar opposite of ds!!! )

mumbomama - I started my business in April and it has gradually built up to the point where I am about to take on another person. Basically I did an initial bit of marketing (leaflets) and popped them in distribution boxes at vets, local leisure centre, pet shop and then through those and word of mouth/recommendations it has built up.

You will never make a mint out of it and I knew this, however I am a single mum and found that working part time for a company wasn't working for me in relation to picking up/dropping off ds at pre-school/illness etc. I wanted to be with him more, which I can do with this business. It was either this or go on benefits. So for me it was really quality of life with ds vs. having more money. Quality of life won!

It is quite stressful though!

Doodledootoo - thanks for the link! Does your BT eat stones???? Ralphie is mad about them and I am forever having to hook them out of his mouth (which only serves to excite him more!) Help!
