My cat has been ripped to pieces by dogs

My beautiful 25 month old Norwegian Forest Cat - Blossom, was mauled to death by dogs on Tuesday night.

We didn't find her body until yesterday. To say I am fucking heartbroken is the understatement of the century.

No real reason for posting. Am sat here in tears and not sure what else to do.

Thanks Mama.

He seems ok today. I was a bit tearful this morning and that upset him, so I have had a stern word with myself to pull myself together.

its very difficult isn't it.

I think its OK for him to see you upset too thougbh dejags, its natural, so try not to worry.

I bet thats upset you as much as your poor cat hasn't it?

BandofBunnies · 30/03/2007 12:04

Dejags, insensitive man.
Don't they have quarentine when you move????
That's why I left my lovely kittie in the US, with exh. Thought 6 mths alone would be too cruel!!!

ShowOfHands · 30/03/2007 12:05

How can they be so hardened to something so sad? And to blurt it out in front of ds too. Horrid.

I wish I had a time machine for you dejags. In 9 months you'll be in Australia, the birth will be over and lo will be a giggling, hungry little thing. And it'll be Christmas.

BigCremeEggs · 30/03/2007 12:07

how shocking to hear

Mrsjaffabiffa · 30/03/2007 12:17

Oh djags, poor you and ds. What a horrible thing to have happened. at man for telling you infront of ds thats just not on.

I know our Beanz is very much part of our family and I think we'd all be devastated if something happened to him.

foxinsocks · 30/03/2007 12:18

oh I'm sorry dejags, how awful

charliegal · 30/03/2007 12:19

I haven't read the whole thread, just your OP. It happened to my cat too. I was devastated, so am thinking of you

noddyholder · 30/03/2007 12:33

I am nearly in tears for you I am so so sorry.I have two cats and I adore them and they are really part of the family.Only other animal lovers will truly understand how you feel

PavlovtheCat · 30/03/2007 12:34

Dejags - I am so sorry for you hun. I dont knwo what else to say, apart fomr I am sorry and sending you big big hugs.

littlerach · 30/03/2007 12:50

That's really awful.
We lost a cat, presumably he was hit by a car, a few years ago. It was horrid. And we found one run over a couple of weeks ago and had to find out who she belonged to - so sad.

Mossie · 30/03/2007 12:55

Oh dejags how awful to say it like that in front of your poor little boy.

Some people just don't realise that pets are members of your family.

northerner · 30/03/2007 12:59

Dejags just seen this. This is awful, I am so for you.

Such a distressing way for it to happen too. Shame about teh laws in SA. My mums cat was mauled by a pit bull last year (the thug owner took it off the lead and opened the gate to their bcak garden so it could get her

Luckily she survived and they prosecuted him.

Thinking of you.
xx

OrmIrian · 30/03/2007 13:06

So sorry dejags . What a horrible thing to happen.

My cousin moved to Jo'burg about 30 years ago. Everyone seemed to only have the kind of dogs that you normally see in the worst kind of nightmares. Yard-dogs not house-dogs, black (because the 'blicks' are more scared of them ), beaten for any misdemeanour to make them fiercer. Truly awful - I think my cousin's two would have made short work of any poor cat .

VeniVidiVickiQV · 30/03/2007 13:10

oh how awful

dionnelorraine · 30/03/2007 13:16

You poor poor thing. How heartbreaking!
I had a thread on here at the beginning of the month. My kitten was run over. Missing over night, dragged his back legs home in the rain for hours. He had to be put to sleep. I kept picturing him, how he suffered. I have never cried so much! I know its the same as your situation but I really do feel for you. The pain of losing a pet, especially so tragicly, is tough.
Time will heal
Thinking of you xx

HumphreysYummyChoccyEggCorner · 30/03/2007 13:21

Am so, so sorry to hear this. Poor little Blossom. Having lost 2 cats on the road is bad enough but being mauled by dogs is truly dreadful.

LupinsBigLump · 30/03/2007 15:10

Awww sorry to hear this hun, how awful for you - sending you a big hug

dejags · 30/03/2007 15:22

Thank you all.

Your posts have made me feel better

Whoooosh · 30/03/2007 15:25

No offence ot any South Africans on this thread but IME they have a very hardened view to almost any situation over there.
Gross generalisation and only in my experience but a very cold race who seem to have little value for life.

Aero · 30/03/2007 15:25

What a horrible thing to happen. Very sorry.

Overrun · 30/03/2007 15:26

Dejags, thats terrible. I love my cat, and would be devestated if some thing like that happened to her

PeachyClair · 30/03/2007 15:28

Haven't read thread by for you, its hard to lose a pet any way- but this!

Norwegian Forest Cats are especially gorgeous too aren't they, my mog is best mates with one, she is so [rotective of him (the kitten has a leg, tail missing, and it was at the hands of humans so is shy of most poeple- understandably).

The lady down the road (in South Wales!) used to direct her dogs- albeit small ones, terriers- towards our cats regularly, about the time that the older one started to bite his own hair out (he has worn a collar for 4 months since) and as they are both rescued animals, and we take the most severe ones as we have the experience, it really affects them. I hate to think how I'd react if they actually got the animals [anger] although older cat fight something wonderful.

to you and your poor, poor ds. Roll on moving day.

manuka · 30/03/2007 18:19

This is the most awful thing I've read. I can't think of anything to say because its so horrifying. I only hope that with each day you feel less terrible. Bach Rescue Remedy may help you. Most chemists sell it.

Peachy- that woman who directed her dogs to your cats!!! What a fucking evil hag! I'd have to get some seriously huge mountains of pig manure delivered onto her doorstep!

Greenleeves · 30/03/2007 18:32

Oh, dejags. You must feel utterly devastated. I'm so sorry.
