YEAY!!!!!! What a relief!! Lots of kisses and cuddles from his mummy tonight then! xx

JanH · 03/03/2007 19:45

Brilliant news

Radley · 03/03/2007 19:52

nicm, I am sooooooooo pleased you have got him back.

I have got a 16 week old kitten who is just discovering the joys of going out, he is having the chop shortly as well as his jabs and he is being microchipped, if anything happened to him I would be devastated, he is so very much part of this family (though a little swine at time)

Give him a big cuddle from me

Biglips · 03/03/2007 19:56

yippee!!....

Did he have a tag on him? as i need to get one for mine

PeachyClair · 03/03/2007 21:13

so pleased

nicm · 03/03/2007 21:45

hi biglips, he didn't have a tag on just a collar(no bell-he was too scared of it lol) think we'll get them microchipped before we let them out again though and buy one of these collars \link{http://www.kittycollars.co.uk/personalised-cat-collars.htm}

really pleased, only just read this thread, and am very happy at your happy ending.

This is a similar story, whci i hope will make u giggle.

I had a pet duckling when i was about 10, who vanished. This duckling was really little, could sit in your hand.

I searched for 3 days, we lived inthe countryside, npthing, mum said, he's probably been 'had' by a fox, too little too have survived.

On the sunday, I heard a squeak outside the lounge, and lo and behold there he was. Little webbed feet red raw, and hardly a bit of fluff/feather on him.

He came home ffs !!!!! I will never forget it!!!

MrsJohnCusack · 03/03/2007 21:58

oh I'm so glad! I have been thinking about him

Novacane · 03/03/2007 22:24

dionnelorraine · 05/03/2007 08:41

Hi Nicm and all.
As I put somewhere at the beginning of this thread, my cat is due at the vet today for 'snip and chip' well since 5.30pm yesterday he hasnt been home!
Im now really worried and upset and it has been raining hard where I am. He hates the rain. I hope to god he comes home today! I have driven round all the local area, checked nearby garage compound, made lots of phonecalls and about to do some posters. This just sucks!!!

nicm · 05/03/2007 13:10

OMG dionnelorraine, that's awful what age is he?

i'm not sure this is the same as he hasn't been done he can wander a bit further i'm told. (2-3 mile radius of home-not sure if this is when they're done or not)

go out with his food dish or what ever it is that he comes to you with and call him. you'll feel like a tube probably, i know i did but try this. walk round the streets around you and call there as well.

get posters made up with a picture if you can and post it through all the houses in the area. put them in the local shops, call all the vets around and most should take your details and will let you know if he's brought in.

call all the local cat charities and make sure it's not just the larger ones like cats protection.

i'm assuming you're in england? then you can add your details to lost cat websites. google 'lost cats' and loads should come up. also go to www.catchat.org, this is a really useful website.

for you, hope he's home soonxxx

Hi Nicm. just to let you know Dobbi (our cat) has been put to sleep. he got hit by a car last night (vet can tell by scuffed paws/claws) broke bottom of his spine and pelvise and pierced his bladder. He turned up outside back gate meowing about 11am, dragging his back legs. he was covered in mud!

I cant stop crying. he was such a lovely boy and didnt deserve it.He was best friends with my dd 2yrs and our big dog. He cuddled up on dd bed at night and sometimes with the dog. He was so affectionate. I rescued him at 2 months old. rspca were going to put him to sleep, cat flu. But I nursed him back to health. He was only six months old, he was probably struggling for hours in the rain last night. (he hates the rain) I feel like shit!!

I love him so much, its only cat but hurts so much.

My poor baby dobbi xx

fryalot · 05/03/2007 13:57

oh you poor thing. I don't know what to say, but couldn't read your post and not say anything. {{{hugs}}}}

dionnelorraine · 05/03/2007 13:59

Thank you xx

fifiandtheflowertots · 05/03/2007 15:52

Dionne,
I'm really sorry for whats happened to your cat, i went through exactly the same thing a few years ago and its awful.
I always think they aren't just pets they are part of the family.
Hope you get through this ok.x

nicm · 05/03/2007 15:57

oh dionnelorraine, i'm so sorry i know this may not seem like a good thing, but at least he made it home to you to get help. my worst worry was that my cat was somewhere in pain and didn't know how to get home to get help he'll be at rainbow bridge now no doubt waiting

rainbow bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

hope this helps you a little, am thinking of you xxx

Thank you nicm and all. I work in a vets and we have that poem on leaflets. Its so sad isnt it. makes my cry.
I am glad that he somehow got home so Im not worrying about him anymore. I just keep thinking about how he suffered in the rain last night and struggled all the way home. He wasnt meowing in distress though, just relief i think. Vet said his nerves were severred when his spine broke so he was numb. uncomfortable rather than painfull. poor little sod.

Sorry for turning your thread round to my issue.

thanks for support and kind words xx

nicm · 05/03/2007 16:24

no don't worry at all, i'm just sad that your story didn't have a happy ending like mine. take care xx

dionnelorraine · 05/03/2007 16:31

JanH · 05/03/2007 22:33

Oh dionne, poor dobbi, that is so sad

I'm glad he was able to get home to you though so that at least you could take care of him, and know what happened.

pirategirl · 06/03/2007 12:28

Oh I'm so sorry this has happened, I truly know how it feels.

I hope this peom may help you at some point. What a brave cat, coming home, I am really sorry.

A friend sent it to me.

Poem For Cats

And God asked the feline spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
And, as a cat, you know I am most able
To decide anything for myself.

Are you coming then? asked God.
Soon, replied the whiskered angel
But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me, quite certainly.

But don't they understand? asked God
That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is....forever and ever and ever.

Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.

big hugs to youx

dionnelorraine · 06/03/2007 12:36

Thats beautiful. Thank you. Made me cry again though

I do feel a bit better today although I keep finding things like his muddy footprints in the bathroom sink. Its just so so sad.

Thank you xx

pirategirl · 06/03/2007 12:44

POor thing, I cant think what to say, but hope you will find comfort in those words maybe a while from now, I know its quite a strong poem, and didnt want to make things worse.
I feel it describes cats so wonderfully, we love them but they really do have an aloof, wild nature, and that was what he was doing when he had the accident, enjoying himself, and being free.

You gave him a chance of a good life, and he had a great life with you.
