dalmatian costing us £40/month at the mo for anti-inflammatories. Creaky old lad.

MerlinsBeard · 20/04/2006 21:30

4 yo house rabbit called bunny Blush can't even blame the DSs for that name!

Joannie2 · 20/04/2006 21:50

An Irish Terrier called Olive (4 years old and an absolute tearaway).

doobydoo, I think that now makes 3 Irish Terrier owners on Mumsnet - we are taking over Grin.

hulababy · 20/04/2006 21:51

No pets here either. Tried having a cat briefly but DD was allergic.

kid · 20/04/2006 21:53

A 12 year old yorkshire terrier and 2 goldfish.

madrose · 20/04/2006 21:59

down to one cat from four!

we use to have neil (black white male)- decided to stay with a neighbour when we moved down the road.

Colin (fat black white male) move in with elderly people (thankfully cos he peed everywhere and bit everyone)

Cliff - (black male) was my shadow, killed in a hit and run - still missed today Sad

Bob (female tabby) who adores DD, had to really as nose seriously out of joint when DD appeared on the scene!

Had several goldfish that eventually drowned.

We have a lovely border terrier called Tilly who is just over a year old and who has destroyed two pairs of shoes, two pairs of headphones, several Christmas baubles, an electronic sudoku game, a cheque book and a leather photo frame. She also sits and bites her nails like a bloody human being! We also have two male Netherland Dwarf rabbits who live together as the best of friends, called William and Dylan who are both nearly 3 years old. They really are a pair of miracles though as male rabbits would normally kill each other but these two lovely gentleman are inseperable and they love to cuddle up and wash each other. They get on really well with Tilly too who pins them to the floor and nearly licks them to death! I love my animals and would have houseful if my DH would let me. We also used to have another very vicious rabbit named Isabel (I still bear the scars) and seven beautiful little female mice (Poppy, Daisy, Rose, Fern, Bluebell, Buttercup and Lily) who used to stink really bad but they were still gorgeous. We also had a rescue hamster that my DH found on a golf course but unfortunately she did not live very long, my DD was heartbroken as she had always wanted a hamster. I would dearly love a tortoise but they are very expensive and they have a habit of disappearing.

4 cats - Njata, Aris, Tuska and Guinness.

louise35 · 21/04/2006 09:09

Frenchgirl, my Border terrier is actually crossed with a Lakeland terrier so I suppose that makes another one of us in the Lakie Club so don't feel too lonely!!

Frenchgirl · 21/04/2006 09:31

thanks louise!!! I will tell Mac, I think he is always desperate to meet girl Lakies and that doesn't happen!! he is quite a looker..... Grin

bramblina · 21/04/2006 21:30

Louise, I have a tortoise! He's only 3 so isn't outside yet, and won't be for a good many years until he cliatises, so there's no fear of him taking off! No excuses now, go get one. My dh got him for me from thetortoiseshop.com in hull and they're fantastic!

louise35 · 22/04/2006 18:27

Bramblina, what do you keep your tortoise in, is it a vivarium or do you let him/her wonder around the house? I would dearly love one but the thoughts of keeping it in a tank environment sort of puts me off. Do you mind me asking how much you paid for your tortoise?

bramblina · 22/04/2006 21:22

Louise, \link{http://www.thetortoiseshop.com/products/horsfield_tortoise.html\check this out}
Further down this page you'll see the kit, we also bought an outdoor pen so the total was around £300. The picture of the indoor pen is quite small but you can just make it out. At the front left you can see the lid of the "bedroom" I call it, behind that is the square where the heat lamp goes and the big area is fine for him. The pen measures about 3'x2' and we have it on top of the sideboard so it's a great height. We got him a year and a half ago, at the age of 2, he was the size of the palm of my hand and now is just a bit smaller than my whole hand so he's still got plenty room in the pen. He's expected to grow to 9inches and live to about 100. (just hope ds loves him like I do!)
I do let him wander round the kitchen as we have a wooden floor (he tends to chose these moments to do his business-of which tortoises have 3 functions!) but he's still small enough to get stuck under things so he doesn't get out for long. We only put him outside when the weather is really good, and not for long either as they're great diggers so until he's totally familiar with us and the garden he'll still be restricted. Since ds came along he's been a bit ignored so is in a bit of a strop with us just now!

dejags · 22/04/2006 21:27

2 Norwegian Forest Cats (sisters) who are just over a year old.

Adore them Smile

dejags · 22/04/2006 21:30

oh cats go by the names of Bo and Blossom

louise35 · 22/04/2006 22:12

Thanks Bramblina, I will have to give it some serious thought. I just don't know whether it would be a good idea though at the moment as our dog who is just over a year old may eat the poor little creature so I think its something I will consider when she gets a little bit older and mellowa a little bit. I've wanted a tortoise for years as I absolutely love them and I'm sure I'll have one some day. I think due to their lifespan they are a beautiful legacy for your children and grandchildren. I would love to have had a tortoise that once belonged to my Grandparents, that would have been brilliant.

fastasleep · 22/04/2006 22:13

I've got a potbellied husband.

dinny · 22/04/2006 22:15

geriatric cat

cazzybabs · 22/04/2006 22:31

2 black and white moggies called Flapjack and Waddle.

Would like a pony and a dag (sigh!!! And a BIG house in country! and not have to work! and prehaps a few chickens, some predigree sheep, children at boarding school) - oh no sorry thats just the mummies at my school!!

AHH well I can dream - all that to go with the 5ft10 size 10 body!

bramblina · 23/04/2006 11:28

Louise, our dog was jealous and stalked the pen for months, but it's up high so no danger but it is something to be aware of. We never leave them together.
