doobydoo · 19/04/2006 12:35

Jan Fennell has some books out ..0ne is called the dog listener[or whisperer]we used her to train our dogs and it works!
Give her advice a go.Maybe you could find out if she has a website.
Might have to start[retraining]but imo she is effective.

SparklyGothKat · 19/04/2006 12:36

does she give advice on chewing??

doobydoo · 19/04/2006 12:42

yes..thing is antisocial behaviour can be for all sorts of reasons..she has about 3 or 4 rules that if you adhere to the dogs will not exhibit these behaviours. Its quite simple when you read it and makes sense.but can seem odd at first but it really dies work! The book i have is called The Dog Listener and her name is Jan Fennell.

bubblerock · 19/04/2006 12:55

2 budgies (blue & Grey) and a parrot (Charlie). I had to give my cats (Sheridan & Psycho) to friends/relatives when we got the Hotel as it wouldn't have been fair on them Sad

muma3 · 19/04/2006 13:00

SparklyGothKat · 19/04/2006 13:04

lol, I have spent a fortune replacing the things he chews, he has even chewed 2 fabric muzzles that are supposed to stop the chewing lol

muma3 · 19/04/2006 13:09

the first night i got her she was back and forward to different rooms collecting things to chew and i was up and down putting tem back. by the morning she had a large collection of girls toys /pens/shoes/socks etc on the shelf above our bed.

the next day we went shopping for toys for her and got a few that are really hard rubber - "never- get - through- them - ever- invisible-last-lifetime-toys" . she loves them and sits chewing on them . i think she just realised that they were for her and leaves everything else alone. she does tend to steal dd3 wooden blocks now and again but ill just go over to her and she drops it and goes to get her toys. also them chew stick things are great. she has not got through the first one yet and we have had her 2 months !!

think best tip is to not let them get bored . put a few treats around the hose for her/him to find and scatter toys in every room .

havent got any advice for myself though apart from putting her in her cage evrytime she wees but it isnt helping

leece · 19/04/2006 13:42

We have sea monkeys they look like lovely little swimming head lice. They are a great pet as they are very hardy and you can forget to feed them for weeks, they are no trouble at all.

wannaBe1974 · 19/04/2006 15:35

yellow lab called Bonnie, two cats called Bubble and Squeak, and two goldfish called Donald and Douglas. Hoping to be getting new dog in a couple of months, bonnie is actually a guide dog and is due to retire iminently, I've been on the waiting list for a new dog for a year now, and only yesterday I had a call about a dog which is a possible match, so the trainer is bringing him over next week and if he's suitable I'll be training in 6 weeks or so. Keep fingers crossed that this dog is a match as my dog is 11 now and she needs to retire, although I will retire her in a heartbeat if she doesn't want to work/her heallth deteriorates, even if don't have a new dog. We'll be keeping her anyway.

Just what my name says Smile. Two fantastic yellow girls (strictly speaking lab cross golden retrievers), both failed guide dogs - one has an eye problem, the other's too mad.

They keep me sane!

We have a gorgeous Working Cocker Spaniel called Katie who is 2 years old. She is a complete hyperactive nutter but so loving and funny.

She is great with DD who is 15 months and just follows her about all day....think she is probably waiting for a morsel of food to be offered which happens ALOT!

Bit low on pets at the moment compared to other times in our lives;
currently have a 11 year old border cross collie - totally off her head, but gorgeous.
a 10 year old cat - thinks he's a dog
and an 3 year old enormous grey rabbit who chased the bloody cat.
