Please read and consider supporting this Midwife who was referred to the NMC and Prevent by her former NHS Trust employer for criticising Zionism, the occupation of and genocide against Palestinian people. The Trust are being influenced by UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI), a pro-Israeli lobby group.

Because I’ve been existing in an echo chamber.

What’s that comment mean?can you elaborate

I didn’t know about the tweet either

CoffeeLipstickKeys · 30/08/2025 14:46

Her own lawyer says Fatimah is known for her activism, anti-Zionist and pro-Palestinian views that’s not indicative of neutral views, I can see that’ll make some groups feel unsafe & uncomfortable

Solidarityformidwife · 30/08/2025 13:43

I am sorry this is happening to you.

Thank you.
I'm confident it won't go further, but I've realized that there is no support and the career I've had for 15 years is probably no more. I don't feel supported enough to continue.

Solidarityformidwife · 30/08/2025 14:54

Yes, I did not know about the tweet. I am sorry that I did not notice this before.

I have investigated further and Jackie Walker was not condoning the action taken by Hammas, she is anti Zionist but is also active in Jews for Justice for Palestinians. The timing of Fatimah’s ‘hell yeah’ response was ill considered, and probably taken out of context. However I am not Fatimah.

Given the genocide in Palestine which most of us are in agreement with is happening, I thought I would draw attention to a healthcare professional
who, through standing up for an oppressed people, was being silenced by her ex employers (who will pay our taxes to) who are being lobbied by pro Israel lawyers. That makes me feel uncomfortable, leaving aside the ill timed tweet.

You’re selective in what you’re minimising. The hell yea on 8/10 for example
You come across earnest and ill informed about a case you’re then asking others to support a case which you yourself we’re not familiar with all the events

Her employer NHS has a duty of care to all the public who use its midwifery services, that includes all faiths and cultures. The trust need to defend their reputation and be seen to do so. The midwife would know her regulatory body expect a high standard in professional and personal life, that extends to what one posts on SM. Her post was provocative and inevitably attracted attention

Her Lawyer said Fatimah is known for her activism, anti-Zionist and pro-Palestinian views this likely to cause some individuals to feel marginalised or worried

Not half as uncomfortable as she would be making Jewish women who are at the hospital for childbirth.

BadSkiingMum · 30/08/2025 15:06

Having now seen the images of the artwork, although I can’t see all the individual pictures clearly, they do seem quite political in their nature. They all seem quite similar and as if they were created by the children in response to a specific discussion or stimulus. I absolutely think they should be displayed, but a hospital environment (where people are already under stress) perhaps isn’t the right place.

This isn’t about Jewish women in labour. This is about a person being silenced for calling out atrocities. Neither the NMC nor Prevent felt there was a case to answer.

Her role as CSL was imbue a tone, a set of practice that make all women, all culture, all faith feel safe in the unit. Her posts, her activism, anti-Zionist and pro-Palestinian views are not inclusive and are likely to make certain groups feel ostracised and unsafe

Restlessinthenorth · 30/08/2025 15:37

It is very much about Jewish women in labour though! This woman was paid to advocate for culturally sensitive care for women in her charge (and incidentally well paid at that). Which Jewish woman (or anyone who was anti hamas infact) could have possibly have confidence in that with her very public political beliefs?. This woman has tried to use her profession to legitimise her political stance, and it hasn't paid off, and now she's outraged because we as a society have too readily sat back and accepted this anti-Jewish rhetoric. I'm glad her employer has taken the stance it has. I hope her reputation proceeds her in any future roles in the NHS she tries to obtain

The NHS trust has a duty to report any potential concerns with radicalisation to Prevent.
They are legally bound to do this.
Their referral wasn't malicious, islamaphobic or any other kind of discrimination.
The tweets are concerning enough to warrant that referral imo.

You are being purposefully obtuse or are really ill informed Her job was not to call out as you put it
Her role was culturally sensitive care for all. No calling. No out required.

Exactly - she hasn't shown an iota of care for her duty towards the women using the services she's paid to champion, support and protect.

That includes Jewish women, Israeli women, Palestinian women and indeed any other women of different beliefs, ethnicities and nationalities who may be using her hospital.

While PREVENT and the NMC may not have cared enough to take additional action it's still entirely reasonable for her employer to deal with her as they see fit.

Solidarityformidwife · 30/08/2025 17:10

Former employer. She is being harassed as an ex employee.

Absolutely this.

Solidarityformidwife · 30/08/2025 17:15

Again, this is not for her. It is to bring a harassment case against her ex employer. To set legal precedent. Are you okay with an ex employer trying to control your actions?

Exactly, I always find it concerning when people put their politics above people, especially in her particular job.
