Except it isn’t spreading like wildfire is it?

All the “life as we know it is over/we are all going to catch it” hysteria is nothing more than speculation at this stage.
In fact if you read the official thought process on this instead of resorting to panicmongerers.net the thought is very much that although a spike is expected, the spread is very much also expected to slow down considerably over the next few weeks/months.
As for people saying that we can’t go on as normal if you have an underlying health issue, of course you can.
People should be washing hands anyway so that’s a given. Anyone with an underlying condition would avoid others with cough/cold/flu symptoms as a matter of course. If you have an underlying condition then you will already be aware of symptoms where you need to seek help.
And there’s nothing that says that if you have an underlying condition you are going to die, just that you may be at greater risk of complications.
The only line I might draw is over going abroad, but I’d probably say that anyway, not least because I wouldn’t want to get stuck in some hotel room somewhere if the area was suddenly quarantined, not to mention being stuck on a cruise ship for weeks on end .
But as I have no plans to go abroad any time soon then yes, life goes on as normal.
And yes, I have a serious underlying health condition - heart failure, cardiac arrest in the summer, needs a heart transplant but healthy enough at the moment to not yet have to be on the list.
I know all too well the symptoms to look out for and the complications. Ironically heart condition was as a result of the flu 3.5 years ago so... been there, done that...
I have numbers for cardiology should I feel concerned. if any of my friends/family come down with colds/flu they avoid coming near me anyway so nothing changes on that score.
But i have no plans to remove my child from school or to isolate myself among a sea of toilet rolls and hand sanitiser.
As an aside, the majority of tinned/packaged foods people are suggesting contain enough salt to be detrimental to someone with heart failure so given I don’t buy those anyway I don’t intend to do so now.
