Petition to stop male crime being reported as female crime

After the recent tube station attack, there was an outcry by members of the public who objected to the way the attack was reported as being committed by women, when it was obvious that the attackers were male.

Please sign the below petition to stop this from happening in the future.

Signed. I was shocked that the petion on the parliament site was rejected. How can it be unreasonable to ask why police practice does not follow the law?

With arrests, there is an argument for recording whether a person is transgender or not for statistical purposes, but this will petition never fly, because it's based on the assumption that transwomen are men, so it will get immediately dismissed. If you want to fight for sex-based rights, you need to be more clever.

What you are signing here is a petition which basically says "transwomen are men." I know that's a popular opinion here, but it's not what your petition is for, I hope.

Because of the prevelance of transphobic hate crime, it makes sense to record the gender status of the victim, and for your agenda, the perpetrator. A carefully worded petition to this effect will garner a load more signatures, and might even get you somewhere.

However, if this is just to make you feel good, knock yourselves out.

DadJoke The petition doesn't say anything about the recording of the 'gender status' of the victim.

FWIW it would probably be useful to record both the sex and the 'gender' of victims so that correct analysis can be done. And actually, yes, it might well be a good idea to record both for the alleged perpetrator too.

But that probably takes time to implement, extra boxes on forms, extra fields in databases...

What is completely unacceptable for crimes committed by one sex to be recorded as the other because of the conflation of sex and gender. That's the immediate and easily solved problem which the petition aims to address. Maybe it would be better if it had been worded neutrally to also include the possibility of crimes committed by females being recorded as by men but in practice they're probably rare and statistically insignificant.

This petition will go nowhere because it's not worded neutrally.

And if someone says, "What is my sex?" how do the police answer? Because the MB judgment in the European Court of Justice demonstrates that it might not be the sex on a person's birth certificate.

And what of someone from overseas who hasn't got a GRC but who has changed their passport. What is his/her sex?
