Sorry, this website only lets U.K. residents sign!

Please sign, whenever I am out shopping and see foie gras, I feel sick!

I'm vegan and have problems with lots of animal rights issues, but things can only change one step at a time. Please sign this petition to make a difference! Smile

I visited a foie gras farm in France - my husband loves the stuff. The farm was clean, the animals were happy and well-cared for (and free range). The problem with the imagery used is that humans tend to project human feelings onto the geese. The geese I saw didn't seem to be at all distressed during the feeding process, which incidentally, is a soft mash feed. The animals certainly looked a lot happier than any other farmed animals I've seen. I have no issue at all with buying foie gras - I did see it on sale a few years ago at Aldi or Lidl.

If we're going to start reducing animal cruelty I'd rather see tougher laws in the dairy and beef industry.

I love foie gras. And veal. People get all emotional about veal, forgetting that their spring lamb died at the same age!!

yeah but veals a bit foreign too innit

It's the junk science bit that has absolutely stopped me from signing. OP if you want support, stick purely and simply to the animal cruelty aspect. And make sure you investigate for yourself, don't rely purely on some of the more hysterical vegan websites.

I spent time on a farm in the Dordogne as a teenager, one of those farms that are more like a small village full of closely related people. The family's granny was raising geese for foie gras in her garden. They looked like pretty happy geese to me. They used to come running when she banged the pail with a stick for feeding time.

Op where do you shop that you often see it for sale?

The petition doesn't even make sense.
