Swedes is very bad lady, isn't she?

I think we should ban her, don't you?

LyraSilvertongue · 03/07/2008 23:36

Lessons will be learned.
except they never learn them.

onebatmother · 03/07/2008 23:40

but let's ban swedes, shall we?

Swedes · 03/07/2008 23:47

Onebat - Oh please, let's. I've got a gang of guests this weekend (some staying) and I should be doing things other than discussing capsule wardrobes.

gigglewitch · 03/07/2008 23:47

"At the end of the day..."

I hate it hate it hate it. Grrrrr.

Rant over

thumbwitch · 03/07/2008 23:50

"In reality", especially if used every other sentence.

In fact, any phrase/cliche used every other sentence. And the people who do it. I just want to shout LEARN SOME NEW WORDS! at them

gigglewitch · 03/07/2008 23:55

you are SOOO right, Thumb

onebatmother · 03/07/2008 23:55

I will slap ya down, Swedes, if I see you round these parts tomorrow.

You must begin spritzing lavender water on linen, right now! what are you cooking btw? Just out of interest.

You could always email me if you feel this might be a hijack too far.

thumbwitch · 04/07/2008 00:05

why thank you giggle - us witches are obviously in tune.

And while I'm at it, my boss has a ghastly habit of overusing the word "invariably" when she means "most of the time", as she quite often (or, in her words, invariably) adds the exception in the next sentence!

gigglewitch · 04/07/2008 00:08

pmsl.

Am getting annoyed just thinking about it

onebatmother · 04/07/2008 00:10

I sooo badly want to know what industry you're in thumb...

thumbwitch · 04/07/2008 00:21

OBM - bit of a tricky one, that - I am in the complementary medicine trade on one hand, and higher education on the other (albeit still complementary - I work for a college that provides a degree in Nutritional Therapy). Boss is at the college.

onebatmother · 04/07/2008 00:30

Aah. But in that case she is doing rather well, in limiting her ghastliness to 'invariably'? There is scope for sooo much more, were she so inclined, don't you think?

that's reminded me: "Eat yourself slim" as a headline on Cosmo/other shite

If that were possible, do you not think I would have tried it by now? or rather, I've been trying that since bcming SAHM approx. 3 yrs ago, and it definitely doesn't work.

IorekByrnison · 04/07/2008 00:35

To be honest and its bastard online offspring "tbh".

What can it possibly mean? Either (a) that you generally lie as a matter of course but are going to make an exception, or (b) that you think "honesty" somehow excuses you for whatever insulting piece of crap you are about to come out with.

It's bad.

onebatmother · 04/07/2008 00:37

no! it means

IorekByrnison · 04/07/2008 00:41

Well then that's what you should say, rather than incriminating yourself with the implication of habitual dishonesty.

IorekByrnison · 04/07/2008 00:42

tbh

thumbwitch · 04/07/2008 00:44

good lord, that's an awful long thing to say when "tbh" takes up so much less room.

OBM - my boss isn't a diet-monger in the way you seemed to imply, and she was brung up proper as a nurse and MW before branching out into nutrition - but she does come out with some corkers sometimes!

IorekByrnison · 04/07/2008 00:55

Onebat's translation is quite right though. It's horrible. It's like on here when people say something really aggressively confrontational to another poster and stick a on the end of it as though that shields them from all blame.

Hell's teeth what a nasty mood I am in this evening. Must go to bed.

thumbwitch · 04/07/2008 01:02

Ah, I see what you mean now Iorek. Yes, I have seen that, it's under the same umbrella as "with respect", or if you're being particularly nasty, "with the greatest respect"

onebatmother · 04/07/2008 08:32

I have unfairly slurred the name of your boss thumbwitch, which was rude of me, sorry.

IorekByrnison · 04/07/2008 10:12

Yes! Or "with all due respect" (meaning none at all, obviously).

tigermeow · 04/07/2008 10:59

"We need to touch base and mind-map"

Arghhh, just ask for a meeting!

SorenLorensen · 04/07/2008 11:04

I loathe "it's a big ask" or "it's not a big ask". I mean, FGS, that doesn't even make sense!
