My friend uses the wrong words...

My very good, kind and lovely friend uses the word "pacific" rather than the correct term "specific". My fellow pedants, what do I do? I have turned a blind eye (or deaf ear) to it thus far, but it drives me crazy. Another lovely friend responded to my ds saying "How do you do?" (he is 18 mths - very cute!) by saying "Very well thank you and how are you?"!

Am I going straight to hell for being so judgemental?

|GOD I'm hungry!
I'm sending the butler to Greggs.

onebatmother · 14/02/2008 16:33

go toilet, clam, is even more scary.

IorekByrnison · 14/02/2008 16:33

Is "go Watford" a euphemism?

LittleWonder · 14/02/2008 16:36

You mean like go Barking?

IorekByrnison · 14/02/2008 16:39

lol LW, yes. Or to partake in some unspeakable practice favoured by the inhabitants of Watford.

LittleWonder · 14/02/2008 16:40

Go toilet is very very scary - both for the omission and for the 't' word.

LittleWonder · 14/02/2008 16:42

So, is Watfording wearing too-tight trousers, then?

onebatmother · 14/02/2008 16:42

lol LW

IorekByrnison · 14/02/2008 16:43

Yes. "I'm just going to turn my bicycle around" is better.

LittleWonder · 14/02/2008 16:44

In Watford?

IorekByrnison · 14/02/2008 16:44

No, no - the toilet.

lol at tight trousers. A euphemism is born.

Iorek, I have never heard that one before - am I alone here?

onebatmother · 14/02/2008 16:46

Oh STarlight I know that's not true...!
Coal-sacks are terribly scratchy you know.

StealthPolarBear · 14/02/2008 16:57

"I told him I didn't breathe as often as him!

oh starlight, I haven't been clear.
Meant: at at push both can be worn to keep you warm, but one is far, far, far more elegant.

LittleWonder · 14/02/2008 17:05

Mind out, she is wearing the scratchy one!

Go Watford=go out dressed in too tight trousers.

Coal falls out of the sleeves of the camel-hair, I find.

LittleWonder · 14/02/2008 17:06

UQD has gone very quiet. Is this defeat?

onebatmother · 14/02/2008 17:06

which occlusive metaphor precisely proves your point. Damn.

StealthPolarBear · 14/02/2008 17:08

I have never heard that term
Camel hair coats sound horrible. As worn by Quasimodo!
(I've never actually seen one and sure they look lovely )

I think it's more a Kray Twins kind of look, Stealth.

I'm talking absolute shite again. Someone call me in for tea.
