Chester drawers

This may have been done before but I find this really annoying. Someone advertised a chest of Chester drawers the other day 😂. Anyone else.

Shabby chic ??

Macaroni46 · 20/12/2022 18:57

On sweet 😂

cptartapp · 20/12/2022 18:57

Rest in peace. Go fly with the angles.

Lemonlady22 · 20/12/2022 19:34

It’s vertically new!

soundsofthesixties · 20/12/2022 19:34

Engraved on a headstone, 'we were sorry to loose you' Surely someone must have seen this before it was put in the Graveyard.

Wisterical · 20/12/2022 20:02

@JFDIYOLO but it is duct tape. 'Duck Tape' is a brand name.

heidbuttsupper · 20/12/2022 20:06

The confusion between bought and brought fills me with uncontrollable rage

CrappyUsername · 20/12/2022 20:06

I hate 'needs gone', like they think that phrase will make it more appealing to other people!! It's often accompanied with a ridiculously high price for what they are selling; it just makes you think that they can't need it gone that badly! 🤪🤣

lmnabc · 20/12/2022 20:14

Loving this thread 😂

bellac11 · 20/12/2022 20:17

I work in a job where lots of people ask for their children to have 'rest bite'

Professionals also write this on case notes. It drives me barmy

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 20/12/2022 20:54

I once had a rant at my manager about whoever wrote one of our templates and put should of instead of should have. She nodded along. Later I realised our director (her boss) uses this phrasing all the time 🤦🏻‍♀️

@FairlySane but what if that was actually correct? And the owner had given birth to two children in it before passing it on for another pregnant lady to use (hence increasing it to three birth)?

@Talapia this is pendants' corner! It's a safe space for the perpetually wincing

GimmeBiscuits · 21/12/2022 11:12

For anyone who enjoys literature, have you heard the awful Amazon radio advert where Romeo and Juliet get walkie talkies? She asks "wherefore art thou..", and he replies with his location.
So rage-inducing.

YES! I just can't understand why people do this so frequently. Also, your being used to abbreviate you are.

And that hideous Checkatrade radio advert that says, 'I'm Julius Caesar, a Roman Emperor! I'm not a tradesperson, but if I was I'd be on Checkatrade!'

It's completely mental. And Julius Caesar wasn't even a sodding a Roman Emperor. He was, however, somewhat embarrassingly for Checkatrade, the holder of the office dictator.

<froths>

I'm not sure it's funny to mock people who may have dyslexia or a learning need.

Most don't, they're basically half educated.

winteriscoming2022 · 21/12/2022 13:42

Rest Bite does my head in. I've seen it requested by parents, provided by foster carers and even organised by Social Workers once

GimmeBiscuits · 21/12/2022 13:45

Just spotted: "We would like to wish all are customers a Merry Christmas."

For anyone enjoying this thread, Bill Bryson's "Dictionary of Troublesome Words" is a good read. Apart from the usual "draws" and "drawers" stuff on our local for sale site, my most recent eye-roll was at being "thanked for my patients" by a legal firm. 😂

The business head of our Council's legal department says 'pacific' instead of 'specific'.

PedantScorner · 21/12/2022 15:37

On a local freebie site today:
"Christmas Tintsel
Various colours of christmas tintsel."

IToldYouAmillionTimesAlready · 21/12/2022 15:38

Someone one MN recently said her bloke doesn't like food "with source" 😂

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 21/12/2022 15:40

My SIL always writes “ restbite”

Bare with me

Oooh that reminds of an old vinyl 45 my Mum had by the Bellamy Brothers. It had a line in it like this “If I said you had a beautiful body, would you hold it against me?”
