You sound lovely too!

@Sistanotcista are you completely unaware of Hiberno English?

It's not lazy English - it's an acceptable form in many English speaking nations.

I’m in Essex and it’s used a lot here but by the same people who generally use poor grammar ‘we was’, ‘you done’ etc.

I do agree we are missing a nice plural word for You in English but it is easily overcome by being specific: ‘you and Harold’ or ‘you all’.

When my best friend first met her (Irish) wife we went out for coffee. At the end i said something along the lines of "so lovely to see/meet you. You'll have to come for dinner one day"
Her now wife thought I didn't like her, because in Irish "you" is singular, and assumed tge invite was just for friend. I didn't realise that in Ireland the use the plural "yous" so meant both of them.

Most Irish people I know wouldn't find you vs yous confusing. Yous or ye are used informally for you plural, depending on the area, but you is always used in formal writing. So both forms are used. Also the majority would know that ye and yous aren't used universally. Yous isn't even used throughout Ireland, never mind abroad.

Yes, that surprised me too - I can only imagine that happening if you weren't paying any attention to her and seemed only to be talking to your friend.
