Why? Just why?

I can ignore most stuff but using 'of' instead of 'have' is my most hated.

I remember why I stopped watching soaps (yeah, I know...) It was because in one week there were characters saying "I should of" and "a hundred pound" and "somethink".

It almost tipped me over the edge.

It drives me fucking nuts.

BUT I don't believe that using poor and incorrect grammar/spelling means that that person is unable to make a cogent interesting argument / hold an intelligent pov

It still drives me nuts , though ConfusedBlush

@banivani Haha, okay, that's weird. I've been told the first "D" stands for darling, so it would be "Darling dog"? I never use DD or any of these abbreviations, since it's really not that much work to write the whole word (especially "son") and I find it much easier to read.

@Suebnm Ah, interesting. So they contact you to cheat on their wives and you match them with someone? Or are you the person they cheat with, but just with online sex?

Darling, dear or possibly dickhead depending on context ;)

It’s definitely MN culture to use the abbreviations and I haven’t been on here long enough to scoff at it and be taken seriously but personally I’m not keen on them (feels very American baby name forum 2003). But each to their own, not important. Ddog is just too much though!.

@SmartPlay

It might be interesting to you but I can assure you it is the most boring job in the world. I can't work outside the home so it suits me.

NoTheresa · 28/08/2019 08:45

You could take in washing. Hmm

ErrolTheDragon · 28/08/2019 09:37

If they wrote DD you'd assume they're talking about their daughter, but they can't possibly write just "dog". So it's Ddog. And it does my head in because NOTHING is gained by this.

Ddog is fewer characters than 'my dog' which is what it replaces. And my dog is a darling .Grin

@Suebnm I think you should start a thread in Ask Me Anything, because I'm sure more of us want to know all about the blokes who are messaging (whilst secretly hoping it's not our own DHs/DPs) I'm sure you must have some funny/interesting stories to tell Grin

banivani · 28/08/2019 15:24

Errol but they write MY Ddog! I've seen it, honest guv!
