Women!

Having watched and participated in a few of the gender-related threads recently, I'm still utterly flummoxed at how "woman" and "women" can be mixed up! It happens a lot, not just on those threads.

How difficult can it be?

Woman: singular noun.

Women: plural noun.

Doesn't happen with man/men I find.

DecoysBitch · 15/01/2018 20:27

Not referring just to gender topics, all topics, pure pedantry on my part.

Have posted in the right place haven't I? Confused

There are all manor of mistakes on here. Wink
Not that any of it phases me.
I just bare it in mind that not everyone is as much of a pendant as myself.

MikeUniformMike · 15/01/2018 20:33

Myself and yourself seem to be unpopular OP.

MikeUniformMike · 15/01/2018 20:34

It's defiantly an issue.

MikeUniformMike · 15/01/2018 20:36

No need to get your draws in a twist

Oliack1417 · 15/01/2018 20:36

Haha this drives me nuts too!

I think autocorrect has a lot to do with it.

MuseumOfCurry · 15/01/2018 20:45

Mum you're a big tease, raising our rankles and then dashing them.

MuseumOfCurry · 15/01/2018 20:48

While we're here, does anyone else bristle at this 'taking' of decisions rather than making them?

MikeUniformMike · 15/01/2018 20:53

Autocorrect is a pita. I do worry about the literacy levels on here.

EvansOvalPies · 17/01/2018 16:12

I can understand when this happens online, or on a chat forum, as autocorrect does sometimes rear its ugly head, but in direct speech - oh, goodness, that raises my hackles.

Had to buy some medicine from the Pharmacy, and was asked "Is it for yourself?"

When I call the Vet to make an appointment, I'm asked "What was your name" and "What was your address". Well, if I told you what it WAS, you wouldn't have it on your records, probably. What my address WAS 28 years ago is not what it is now. Wouldn't you rather know what it IS NOW?

DD tells me not to worry, but it really does make me so very twitchy. I can't help it. Gah!

iklboo · 17/01/2018 16:17

I wouldn't loose any sleep over it Wink

EvansOvalPies · 17/01/2018 16:24

You might not, and I know I shouldn't. Yet I do Sad Angry Wine Gin [chocolates]

EvansOvalPies · 17/01/2018 16:25

I am in the right place - Pedants' Corner? This is the right place to moan about these annoyances. Isn't it?

iklboo · 17/01/2018 16:27

Evans - sorry, I deliberately used 'loose sleep' instead of 'lose sleep' because that's one of my bugbears Blush

EvansOvalPies · 17/01/2018 16:30

Ah - sorry, I was being polite in ignoring it. At least it won't bother me tonight now! Grin
