"all the mum's at the school gate are really clicky and never talk to meeee..." Argh. Just...no. It is ALWAYS in a whiny post too. Bothers me far beyond any rational response. I get ANGRY about this. I need to get a grip don't I? or someone lovely could reassure me that it isn't just me? What gets to you?

I hate the way many Americans pronounce the word "nuclear". It's new-clear not new-cue-lar.

It's "cue" not "que". Or sometimes it should be "queue". But it's never "que" unless you are Spanish or quoting Fawlty Towers.

It's new-clear not new-cue-lar.

If you are going to lecture Americans, you should at least use the proper American pronunciation. It's new-cle-ar (with the final "r" pronounced, of course), not new-clear.

Oooh I am glad to see this, I always thought it was clique but keep seeing "click" & thought I was wrong. Is it pronounced like click or cleek? I use the latter, I hope that is right Confused

It's pronounced cleek but you may find that when you say it like that the majority of people look at you like YOU'RE wrong. This is how language changes happen, I suppose. Mispronunciations gradually become the accepted form of the word.

The fact that the word "literally" is used incorrectly so often that the incorrect version now appears in the Oxford English Dictionary as it's colloquial definition. AngryAngryAngry

Click for clique is part of the dialect here in Cardiff. I'm from north Wales so it was something I had to learn when I arrived. It's not standard, but not a mistake either.
