AIBU to think that it's really not that hard to learn the difference between bored and board?? Hmm

Shock how did they just up and move the thread?

TuftyFinch · 23/02/2012 14:21

I bet they love it Hully. Nothing like a bit of feedback. I was doing 'Fact and Opinion' (always a crowd pleaser) to L2 students last term. Standing there banging and a woman put her hand up and said
'I've got a fact'
'oh lovely' I said, 'what is it?'
'you're a shot teacher' she said.
I recovered my self quite quickly and said
'no, that's an opinion'. Grin

TuftyFinch · 23/02/2012 14:22

SHIT

HedleyLamarr · 23/02/2012 14:25

'Should of' and 'would of' really grip my shit. I'm a pe(n)dant though. Wink

HedleyLamarr · 23/02/2012 14:26

I knew what you meant Tufty, we used to say shot with an eye! :o

Although I'm surprised no one picked up on me standing there banging. I tend not to do that.

I did wonder

But it was such a beautiful image

BigBadBear · 23/02/2012 14:49

May I join?

I pet hate is "beat off the competition". Always makes me picture very odd things indeed.

Mind you, the earthquake described as "twice as catastrophic" has always stayed with me.

mistlethrush · 23/02/2012 14:52

SS - I struggle with that - I have to work out whether I want the noun or the verb - n comes before v - c comes before s. Tennis practice (n) - practise (v) tennis

I get annoyed at people talking about Public Enquiries instead of Inquiries - but that's rather specific and they should know better.

BigBadBear · 23/02/2012 14:56

"I pet hate" Blush Obviously I mean MY pet hate.

Oh the shame of getting it wrong on this thread.

TuftyFinch · 23/02/2012 15:07

It would make for a more interesting lesson.

FullyImmersed · 23/02/2012 17:13

Also off and of

"I'm of now" eh? or "I'm so full off shit" Wink

I'm going to remember the "well yes, you are a bit of a plank" lol

I just got an email from DS's school about "World Bok Day", even my 7yo knew why that was wrong!

Love the story from a few years back at work -

A: Your pedanticism really bugs me
B: I think you'll find that's "pedantry" :)
