Old fashioned 5 year old birthday party

My DH is turning 50, and as I keep telling him he's a big kid, I'm doing a 5 year old theme birthday party for him.
What traditional party games do you think would work well for adults?
i.e. pass the parcel, any ideas for prizes etc.
Any suggestions would be great
Thanks

Mistlesnail, MrsKitty you are along my lines. It's more along the lines of the alchol induced. Thanks for the ideas re vodka jelly.
The ones of you who are being negative, that's fine, but my post was asking for ideas of fun, rather than do you think this is a good idea. Just be grateful that you won't be receiving an invitation, and maybe lighten up a bit.

My friend did this for her 30th and everyone had a blast! Where is everyones sense of humour? Adults seem to love joining in with the fun at their own kids parties.

Suggest a parcel the parcel with forfeits between the layer. Also the 'chocolate game'
where you have a bar of chooclate and knife, fork plus hats gloves etc. The choc goes in the middle on a tray and a dice goes around the circle. If you get a 6 you can have a go at the choc with the knife and fork but you have to put the gloves etc on first! Brilliant fun!

Think if you loosen people up with a bit of alchohol before the games start they'll have a lot of fun. Unless of course they are boring anally retentive morons!

Thanks alexfs

Had forgotton the chocolate game, wonder if you can still get those really large bars of chocolate

erm, they weren't really large, you were just really small.

MrsKitty · 11/01/2010 16:48

The chocolate game - excellent!

How about cream cracker races (try to eat 3 crackers with no water in 30secs or something) Remember my headteacher doing this with 2 kids in assembly when I was around 10. No idea what his point was, or if there was a lesson hidden in the fun, but it was certainly memorable!

Also, trying to get a smartie off a mountain of flour with your hands tied behind your back

You could always do a tongue twister after loads of booze..? forfeits for those that get it wrong?

This is great one and makes my kids laugh (well, it did when they were 5)

One smart fellow, he felt smart
Two smart fellows, they felt smart
Three smart fellows, they felt smart,
And they all felt smart together!

Go on, try it....it will make you laugh!

Do some 1965 research and put together some chart music from his first 5th party.

I'd also be tempted to see if I could find any of those old ladybird books - either to use the illustrations on the invites or even to use them prizes....especially if the invitees are aorund the same age.

Sounds fun to me.

Oh - and if you can track down any old school photos of him in 1965 they could be put to good use too.

Can't add any ideas but it does sound like a fun party!

What about the game when your stand in 2 long lines with your hand behind your back and pass a bolloon down the line with your chin/neck.
Chinese Whispers- but make them a bit rude

Sounds like fun

cumbria81 · 12/01/2010 12:15

Well I think it sounds like a great idea, really good fun. You're all a load of old fuddy duddies

Ministerofdomesticfinance · 14/01/2010 11:59

Louby3000 - it was called the necking game when we used to play it. And was with an orange - will create more of the dangerous element with adults. When me and my husband demonstrated what to do for children at our ds1 party - he and i nearly wet knickers we laughed so much.
And what about apple bobbing: but try with swimming hats and goggles (for max humiliation)
