Hi,

Its my daughters Christening coming up and i was going to buy a big cake from Costco's but my friend is taking me next week and Costco's said their cakes have a shelf life of 3days.......The Christening is on the 26th of this month....im not able to go there a few days before.

Does anyone know anywhere that does a cake big enough for 50-60 people?? Looking for plain icing sponge cake.

On a budget as i have her birthday a few weeks after and have a party then as well.

Got my cake at the local bakers - iced fruit cake - they price at about £1 a head - pricey I know but it was big enough and you can have it personalise - i just had her name and a cross made from little roses - was lovely.

otherwise M&S do very nice plain white cakes and with a bit of practice you could ice on it, or buy ready made decorations from a craft shop.

Christening dress - was going to be sensible and buy plain white dress - as its only for an hour or so...but made the mistake of going into mommas and pappas and got a beautiful dress - made me cry tears of happiness when I tried it on my dd, she looked so lovely, so the £65 price tag seemed irrelevant!!!!

here get one of these and then get a plain one of the same flavour and cut that up when you give it out.

Sorry been away for the weekend

Thanks guys

Well thats that sorted out - my mum is now buying the cake. Which means that whatever i want to buy i now have to say to her and she will then go buy what she wants .... Arrhhhhh

Guess its better then what she wanted to buy 1st of all .... The dress! She really does overstep alot, like she's the mum of DD. I wanted to buy the Dress as its my daughters christening and i wanted to buy it. Was about to tell her (waiting for the right moment like you have to with mothers) to tell her i was buying the dress but now its saved an argument lol
I did want to buy the cake also but at the end of the day its just going to be cut up and given to everyone to take home.

Sorry needed to vent that.

I bought the dress Sat

the dress
matching bag

This pic does nothing - it looks so much more special, floaty, wonderful. It looks absolutely perfect on her. She looks like an angel . I too nearly cried messymissy
