Am planning birthday party for DD1 & DD2.

About 25 kids coming.
17 boys aged 6-7
8 girls aged 6-7
5 boys aged 3-4
3 girls aged 3-4

Where can i get nice but not overly expensive bags from and what shall I put in them that will be nice to get but won't cost too much?

I will answer sensibly - but not on a friday night when I have been drinking wine.

Hic

(bump tommorow when we are in party bag filling mode )

Book people, packs of books, split them up. But the size of them does make it difficult to find bags to put them in - I've ended up wrapping them up.

PrettyCandles · 07/11/2008 22:17

Don't do party bags. We give the children a balloon (which gets them out of the house - I don't like balloons around toddlers), a piece of birthday cake, and a little present. The present is usually something like a bottle of bubbles, or a pen, or a good envelope of stickers, or a little packet of glow-in-the-dark things - whatever I've kept my eye out for during the year and seen on a good discount.

I hate it when my dcs receive bags of tat and sugar.

Thomcat · 07/11/2008 22:18

Books nice idea, might look into how much that'll end up costing Thanks.

And ok, will bump again tomorrow.

Some of the younger ones might be too young, but glow sticks or bracelets go down well, and you can buy a big pack.

PandaG · 07/11/2008 22:21

Book People books can work out at < £1 each, so a decent present for little dosh. add a fun size bag of chocs or piece of birthday cake maybe and that is it

bozza · 07/11/2008 22:21

Generally you can get packs of 10 books for £10. Just depends how you can work that with your numbers IYSWIM.

Thomcat · 07/11/2008 22:21

Oh me too, loathe tat & sugar. That's why I'm thinking about what i can put in them.

Thought as it was close to Xmas I could give them a Xmas cracker each, 1 nice gift each and some birthday cake. Just not sure what I can get for 30 kids, mixed sexes and mixed ages.

Book people do packs of books for a tenner, really. Hmmm, will go and google them.

I got cool coloured paper bags off the internet.Sort of like American sandwich bags.
Pacon Creative Products. Called 'Rainbow Craft Bags'

Did a party last week.
They each had a little wooden painted mirror from Bangladesh where dh working, a bar of G&B chocolate, slice of cake and some bulbs. Dd chose them. I photocopied picture of them and planting instructions.

Everyone seemed happy.

ellceeell · 07/11/2008 22:24

Don't do a bag at all, give inflatable guitars each - from here partypacks.co.uk/store.asp - you can have some music on at the end of the party and all the children "performing" as they leave.
This was suggested on an old mumsnet thread and I did it last year - several of the children still have their guitars now.

tickseed is family run and they do alot of fairtrade stuff too.

bozza · 07/11/2008 22:31

You could get:box set of Mr Men for £30 and that would be enough for all of them plus 20 to spare for your DD's Christmas stockings.

Or Charlie and Lola for the younger ones]]

andHorrid Henry for the boys

andAmelia Jane for the girls

OrJoke books might go down quite well

Or Dr Seuss

ilove · 07/11/2008 22:32

And please recount...lol...25 bags and 33 children will cause tears!!!

snickersnack · 07/11/2008 22:33

Was going to say seeds as well. Seeds and a small book.

bozza · 07/11/2008 22:34

So that is why I was confused when I was trying to split the book packs ilove.

christywhisty · 07/11/2008 22:34

I gave the girls these

and boys wooden puzzles
I thought they worked out quite reasonable and the quality was good.

Thomcat · 07/11/2008 22:35
