They were selling chocolate fondue sets for about a fiver in Lidl last week - might be worth having a look - less of a faff to clean than a fountain! (guess what I'm having for pud at my party on Saturday?)

I was given a choc fountain as an xmas present a couple of years ago. It's still in the box never having been used. Seen the results at a few parties/weddings and what a waste of perfectly good chocolate imo! Plus the children will get far more chocolate over themseleves and everyone else with that or a fondue!

Actually I also have a fondue set I was given as a present and never used either. Loaned it to my sister though and never got it back (was my other sister who gave it to me at my first sister's suggestion! )

Candy Floss maker would be good (I love candy floss!). Can you make some up in advance and put it into sealed bags so they don't get bored if it takes a long time for them all to get some?

If you don't want to buy one can you not hire one or borrow one from someone? Your local Round Table/Lion's Club or even school PTA etc might have one.
