How many children?
One layer per child (if you're putting in little treats..)

Everyone should get a turn (this really riles my MIL )

TheBlonde · 26/02/2008 11:41

at least as many as the number of guests

MerlinsBeard · 26/02/2008 11:41

however many ppl there are so that everyone unwraps a layer

LOLOL

you dimwit!

One layer per child and the norm these days is to include a small gift or sweet in each layer so every child gets something. If you're not sure about numbers and how many layers, a good alternative is to have a bucket or box full of small items - sweets, pencils, balls, etc - and let each child choose something. You can either wrap them or leave them open as you prefer. I prefer to wrap, otherwise they spend half an hour looking through and choosing something.

thanks cod for your welcome input

The number of children plus one for the eventual winner

bozza · 26/02/2008 11:45

If small party I do one per child plus the prize which I do randomly. But not so great if huge numbers there.

belgo · 26/02/2008 11:47

hopefully it will be a small party.

thank you everyone!

however many kiddies, or if a big present in the middle, however many layers you can get in before the newpaper doesn;t fit anymore!!!

if many kiddies and layers needed, then two parcels will need to be made IMO

MehgaLegs · 26/02/2008 11:47

We didn't hav esweets in each layer at last party we went to had to do a (shit, what is that word when you have to perform the task on a bit of paper - why can't I remember it??)

DualCycloneCod · 26/02/2008 11:48

that will make me larf and larf all day

DualCycloneCod · 26/02/2008 11:48

pshycho is playing wiht your mind belgo.

choccypig · 26/02/2008 11:49

If it's for a huge number of kids, I have been to some parties where they have two parcels going round at the same time. Must be tricky to get the music to stop on the right two children towards the end.

Psychomum5 · 26/02/2008 11:54

choccypig agrees with me....

if there is many kiddies, you could always do two groups, altho that does proove complicated.....or even split into boy and girl group!

all still hard to manage tho, especially if you also put in 'challenges'......gets rather manic

belgo · 26/02/2008 11:54

oh gosh I couldn't cope with two pass the parcels simultaneously

I've only done four layers, and I'm getting bored already

well, the parties I jave done with the many kiddies and the two parcels have always ended with me in the kitchen and several bottles of wine!!!

good parties

WendyWeber · 26/02/2008 12:04

It is bloody boring belgo - thank god they grow out it (eventually)

cod, surely there is something in your Mag bible about how many layers it should have?

choosyfloosy · 26/02/2008 12:06

DualCycloneCod · 26/02/2008 12:07

WendyWeber · 26/02/2008 12:07
