Teepee Sleepover Parties - Warning!!

Please avoid this company at all costs! They look legit but will take your money for your child's party and not show on the day nor refund any payment afterwards. We recently fell foul, the website looks professional and communication up until the day of party was good but it is all fake. The lady who owns this Company is Kate Smith (has used other names in past - Kate Brown) and apparantly has appeared on the TV programme Rip Off Britain for a similar scam she ran regarding children's pamper parties. Lots of negative info regarding the 'grumpy but georgeous' company on the internet but not much on the teepeesleepoverparties yet as this is the latest business (SCAM!!) to be set up.

I really don’t know what to suggest! You may be one of the lucky ones! I fear that if you ask for your deposit back and they say no then they won’t turn up! These people are vile 😔

Isabelle2000 · 10/10/2018 16:01

And please all report. Trading Standards and Action Fraud.

With a crime reference number you are also able to easier process money back claims with your bank xxx

Thank you all for your advice.
Hopefully I will be able to get our money back.

DulcieD · 11/10/2018 09:47

Swindale, I'd make alternative arrangements. Almost zero chance of them turning up.

Kate is absolutely vile. So so sorry to hear this. Report to Action Fraud and Trading Standards.

WWW.SLEEPUNDER.CO.UK saved our birthday party. They have been incredibly kind, professional and the many items that they provide are gorgeous; from little electric campfires to snuggly blankets to beautiful teepee fabrics, they offer a really special event xxxxxxx

Shinesweetfreedom · 14/10/2018 04:48

How has her website not been forced to have been taken down by trading standards.

SammyBlueBloss · 14/10/2018 08:44

Apparently the site can not be shut down because it is not in violation of the wix terms of use - I have no idea what this means but my friend has tried to shut them down! They have refunded my deposit but no more and no apology! Still makes my blood boil! I have had 300 shares on my fb post and three messages to say they were about to book and saw my post so spread the word as much as you can to prevent these scum bags x

NATASHA576 · 21/10/2018 09:03

This woman ripped me off! Our party was last night! After a weekend of no response to my messages last weekend! We decided to get a back up plan! We’ve lost all the money we paid to the vile scum bag! I really hope she chocks on! Her parents must be very proud! I wants to say a massive thank you to www.sleepyteepeeuk.co.uk who stepped in! So last minute and made our twin daughters the best dream party! Highly recommend them.
After reading all your reviews I’m actually glad i didn’t have the orginal company turn up, could think of anything worse than putting my daughters and there friends in dirty tents or items!

APThomas · 24/10/2018 11:59

Hi All,

I wish I saw this before the weekend when this company didn't turn up to our daughters party. Whilst the deposit was small, I would appreciate any information in tracking and shutting them down...

Hannah043198 · 27/10/2018 22:22

So my daughters party is booked for Friday 2 nd yesterday evening I realised they were a scam and have booked again with another company , so I take it I loose the deposit then ? Has anyone successfully got any money back ? I’ll check with my bank ! I don’t hold out much hope if this women returning my deposit . I was gutted on finding out last night 😪, but at least I did so I could get another company in x

jasminder1 · 28/10/2018 09:54

Hannah043198 - I managed to get my deposit back, it depends how you paid. If you paid by debit or credit card your bank should hopefully be able to do a chargeback (for non receipt of services - that's how I claimed). Unfortunately if you transferred the money directly I think there is nothing you can do.

I think I paid by Debit card I’ll double check thanks x

MummaB2016 · 01/11/2018 18:26

Oh my goodness this is breaking my heart reading these posts. My sister owns a sleepover party business in Oxfordshire and we had a scammer earlier in the year who stole all of our original pictures and set up a fake business... you have to be so careful and it’s awful for us that crazy people can damage the industry!

I can only imagine how awful it is to have them not show up when you’ve got kids there ready and waiting! I really hope something is done to get this woman sent down! Has anyone contacted Rogue Traders?

If anyone affected by this is in Oxfordshire or nearby, please contact Little Cotton Tents as we’d love to help out and organise the magical sleepover party that you were expecting!

Good luck!

Isabelle2000 · 21/11/2018 23:21

Has anyone seen the website recently?? It looks like it’s been taken down! Sure the dirtbag will try to scam in a new way now. My bank refunded by debit. They do a charge back to her account.

taylorla · 10/12/2018 14:23

I have just become another victim to this company! Do not use them at any cost. Thank you to all the previous reviews/warnings, without those I wouldn't have been able to rescue my daughters birthday party with 24 hrs notice. Their website has no gone down so they/she has presumably moved on. Has anyone had any luck in taking this further? Wasn't sure where to start in terms of reporting them. Any advice welcome!

Suremom · 17/12/2018 18:32

So sorry to hear this I was also a victim back in September we lost a large deposit and still not had anything back! She has dissapeared from her website but I have found her after keeping a close eye on her.

Isabelle2000 · 17/12/2018 19:01

Where is she??

Suremom · 17/12/2018 19:13

@isabelle2000 have a look at pumpkin pamper parties her Teepees are being advertised by her ex employee, what a coincidence?!?!?!!

lisan1971 · 03/01/2019 16:06

Hi all
I am new to mumsnet so I am hoping I am adding to the thread. I have booked a tee pee party but nobody has mentioned the name of the company so I don't know if I have booked the scammer. I know her name is not Kate but on the website and facebook page I can find no reviews. Can anybody enlighten me as to who the company is before I pay any money? Thank you

lisan1971 · 03/01/2019 16:20

Update I for some reason can now see the website name and it is not who I am using. In fact the website for the scam company does not seem to be on the internet. I did find this though uk.trustpilot.com/review/teepeesleepoverparties.com Hope I am allowed to put that but its basically lots of people complaining like on here
