Following on from Radio 2 this afternoon, children are having DVD players put into party bags, I still stand by a balloon, something plastic, a piece of cake and lolly, what about you? how much is too much for a childs party bag?

When dd had a party I put it:

A flapjack
A yoyo
A piece of birthday cake
A Xmas tree treat [as her b'day 24th Dec]

Hulababy · 14/03/2007 21:20

DD's 5th party is next week. Each child will have a beaker with a gift and a cupcake (DD's birthday cake). May put a balloon (have lots for some reason!) and maybe a mini sized chocolate in there, but choc is not definite yet! There will also be a small "thank you for coming" signed by DD in there too. Will be wrapped in cellophene and tied with ribbon.

Girls gift is a flower necklace and bracelt set
Boys gift is a couple of pull back cars
Three under 2s have small individual gifts inside.
Baby coming has a beaker with spouted lid

last year dd1's first party:

notebook
small pack of coloured pencils
stickers
small bracelet and matching ring - girls
monster finger puppets - boys
balloon
small pkt jelly beans
whistle

the children also decorated a door hanger at the party to take home. They were given a balloon on a stick to take home too.

children aged between 3 and 6.

Sounds similar to DD2's 5th party last year!

There's a company called "Send a Cow" which is very good. I bought a goat there once (or was it a sheep?). Anyway they supply families in Africa and you can buy anything from a fruit tree to a cow

no one is oing to put a charity cow etc gift in a aprty bag for heavens sake..surely are you mad?

southeastastra · 14/03/2007 21:41

a few months ago there was a thread about this and someone suggested a pineapple which i think is a great idea!

roberta3 · 14/03/2007 21:41

Giraffeski, where did you get the Peppa Pig stuff from? Have found lots of PP toys but not smaller things. DS3 CRAZY about PP and will only answer to "George Pig" at the moment!

TwirlyN · 14/03/2007 21:43

zippitippitoes, did you listen today, an American mother even put on her DS invites "please do not buy my son a gift less than 50$, as last year he received gifts only worth 10$ and I need to cover my costs". or something very similar.

jules99, lovely idea, but i think the gifts are still very expensive to go into a goodie/party bag. Just asked DP if niece 4 this birthday would like/appreciate the goat idea. Nope. now how ungrateful is that?
