But the shit cocktail sausages are the best bit of children's parties and the reason why I tend to hang around at kids' parties if I can do so without it appearing that I'm only there for the shit cocktail sausages.

did a party last week - a few token ham and jam sarnies,
coctail sausages - wolfed down
crisps of every shape
jammy dodgers
jaffa cakes - wolfed down
loads fairy cakes
grapes - none eaten!

just sweet party food, cos thats what parties are for! They eat veg every night, so figured it wont hurt.
sweets when they were out in the games, and a pinata to end with - more sweets - kids loved it!

I'm no party ponce but am intrigued by ghosty's bright purple sausages.

Did you cook 'em and were they off?

Or were they 'fairy' sausages?

only fruit I had at my dd's party was strawberries - and those were dipped in chocolate.

MWHAHAHAH!

Haha, Cod can't bake so she has to buy birthday cakes for her DSs and she's posted this thread to make her feel better about it.

at DS1's dinosaur party i announced the jaffa cakes as 'dinosaur poo'; small boys are still talking about this 6 months on LOL.

I'm planning a homemade cake for DD's 3rd a week on Sunday ... but considering instead just providing massive pile of pink icing, cos it's all she'll eat of it (why eat cake, with EGGS in, when you can just eat butter, sugar, and pink food colouring?) Otherwise providing sausages, mini pizzas and breadsticks while other birthday girls' mum is doing biscuits, crisps and sandwichs, and her mum is making fairy cakes. I will be hugely over-catering on the sausages so I can scoff loads. Party bags, bouncy castle and space for 26 kids to run about shrieking. 2-bloody-6. FFS, I've never organised a social event with this high an acceptance rate, I'm having palpitations thinkng about it.

gravitas make sure you have a large bottle of wine chilling for after the little darlings have departed
