How much is average for a children's party?

I've booked 2 hours exclusive use soft play for 14 children and will cost £240
This is with a hot and cold buffet

This is the first party I'm organising and think my son will really enjoy it but am shocked at the cost.

He will be 4 and his party is his present from me . Along with also taking him on a day out also

I don't think that is bad actually for exclusive use. The nearest soft play is about £15 per head for parties, I think you can have exclusive use for £2 or £3 per child on top of that.

I agree that parties are massively expensive - if you want anything other than organising something yourself in your local church hall - so if you want a pot painting party / bowling / soft play / cup caking etc etc, I think the average is about £12-15 per head.

We've hired the local sports hall and done a football party for DS, that worked well, The Book People for party bags etc. Thankfully they're getting older now (will be 10 next birthday) so we're limiting the numbers now to 4 or 5 each.

Was going to add - the most successful party we had I think was a diy build a bear party at home from these people We had 6 children in total, guaranteed people rsvp as they had to choose their bear/dog etc in advance! Few nibbles and a cake - huge success Smile Paid about £50 for all the bears etc and t shirts which they all decorated, so around £60 in total. DS had a party every year until he was 12 but we always kept the cost down eg quite a few at a village hall £25 to hire and we did our own food, various activities; cake decorating, sister did a bit of ballooning, party games, bingo etc. Always thoroughly enjoyed :)

Probably too late now, but the Snozzcumber.com website lists details of various party packages within an area, including prices. You can actually put in the number of children you want to cater for and the site will calculate the price of each package for you.

It may not cover your area, but if you happen to be based in East Lancs or West Yorkshire you are laughing. If you're not in this area, it will still give you a good idea of prices.

Here are prices for over 30 party packages available around Burnley for example.

Hope this helps!
