I think the Easter bonnet might be too popular!

DD wanted to wear it on the school run today. I said no as it's not very warm and we still have snow outside so she has stropped and mithered for the whole school run!

Oh are you still at school? We're off til the 8th.

The party sounds like it was a real success which lets face it with wet/cold kids is no mean feat. Yayy!!

Dd1 has a friend over to play later, this is the first time ive done an unaccompanied playdate and im not sure i can cope with the pressure. Firstly dd wont shut up about when is the friend coming and then im panicking that she'll tantrum or something later. Not to mention they are both such fussy eaters.

Blatherskite · 26/03/2013 10:01

Yep, they're there until Thursday but then not back until the 15th.

There were a few times when we were waiting around at the Snodome but the party host they provided us with always let us know what time we'd be doing things and was very helpful with things like bringing the party bags up early so i could pop my extra bits in and letting me share 1 portion of lunch between 2 kids as 1 invitee doesn't eat pizza so we stuck it on a plate for DD instead. She even brought extra ice cream for her which was lovely.

Good luck with your play date DW

My 2 are off and not back until the 18th [sigh]

Off to London today.

Blatherskite · 26/03/2013 10:44

I've uploaded pics of the Easter Bonnet in case anyone fancied a nosy.

Off already and not back until the 18th!! That's a loooooong Easter holiday!

Good luck with play date, DW. Which reminds me, I have to text DD's friend's mother and see if she want to come and play next week on a day when DS is safely out of the house

stealthsquiggle · 26/03/2013 10:54

It is a very long holiday - which was great last year when the weather was fab and they were out in the garden all day, but stuck inside they are getting on each others nerves and mine already Sad. Tennis camp starts next week, assuming it doesn't get snowed off Hmm, which will burn some energy at least.

Tinkerisdead · 26/03/2013 11:22

Dh is off next week and it will be the first time he's ever been off but at home rather than us going away so i'm really hoping we can do loads stuff locally. You know all the places you always mean to visit but never get round to it.

I know he'd love some days in london (all my family there) but dd has a swimming intensive course. It only cos a fiver for the week so i could theoretically cancel it without too much guilt.

Tinkerisdead · 26/03/2013 11:27

That is a cute bonnet!

Blatherskite · 26/03/2013 12:33

Thanks. It would seem DD thinks so too! What's the betting she refuses to wear it for the parade tomorrow?

lilibet · 26/03/2013 12:38

thedrswife, how do you make them?

Tinkerisdead · 26/03/2013 12:53

The pompoms you mean lilibet?

The playdate is underway. The visiting child is 6. Mine is 4. The older one is telling tales loads which is making me laugh cos mine hasnt mastered that yet. I assume thats a school trait? But is this the way to come? Mediating kids crap?

lilibet · 26/03/2013 13:07

I did yes.

Stealth love the idea of the lanterns but aren't they one of those things that you need lots of, I'm thinking money? The party is first bank holiday in May, so it will piddle down Grin

Tinkerisdead · 26/03/2013 14:47

Im not cut out for this. I think i'll have to homeschool after visiting child mum says oh not to worry you but she may have worms. Omg.

slp123 · 26/03/2013 19:34

I have found out why I am still waiting for RSVPs (well some at least). When I collected my daughter from nursery this evening I saw some of the key workers giving out the invites I gave them last Monday!!! Hopefully that explains some if it!
With regard to my nature/plant party bag do you think if I added these(on card) it would be a but naff?

Not sure if this will be linked??

slp123 · 26/03/2013 19:35

Oh no it is not a link. Could someone let me know how and I'll try again. Thanks

slp123 · 26/03/2013 19:45

At last, sorry about all that.
So was thinking print on card and add to bag as an activity for them to do at home???

DTisMYdoctor · 26/03/2013 20:16

I don't think they're naff at all!

slp123 · 26/03/2013 20:19

Thank you. If you got them in a party bag though would you think it a bit cheap? I have used them with my DD and she did enjoy making them but wasn't sure about an addition to party bag.

Tinkerisdead · 26/03/2013 21:05

I think its fine. When i did my gruffalo party i printed stuff like that off the gruffalo website and included them, they were well received because you've put more thought in than buying cracker toy shit!

stealthsquiggle · 26/03/2013 22:24

Gah. I just got an email about a change to a party for DD which I knew nothing about Shock. Turns out it is tomorrow lunchtime.

slp123 · 26/03/2013 22:24

Hello again, have you ever provided or been given a party food box instead of traditional party food laid out buffet style?
I am thinking food is not really the priority with 4yr olds and font want spend hours making sandwiches that don't get eaten.
If you have experience if this what was in the box?
I was thinking of maybe doing an ice cream sundae bar (some vanilla ice cream, toppings and sprinkles) for a dessert and a few cakes. Will send birthday cake home.
Thought could have 2 x sandwiches (cheese/ham), a mini sausage roll, couple cocktail sausages, cucumber/cherry tomatoes/carrot sticks, small bag crisps (of some description?). What else? And do you think it would work?
Thank you again for always being ready to share your ideas and experience. I really appreciate it Smile

Tinkerisdead · 27/03/2013 07:01

Yep me, look on my profile you'll see i put a rapunzel sun on each and labelled them. I found it waaaayyy easier because i wasnt trying to over estimate everything. I got little plastic pots on ebay too so i just shoved it in there.

I did sandwich(i asked all my rsvps what their kidsxwould prefer and top request was jam!) a babybel, cocktail sausages, mini party ring biscuit, grapes and a cupcake each. (The main cake should have been cut at the end but i forgot) i then put trays of crisps on the table. I also got fruit shoot type bottles from morrisons(aspartme free).
