DD is 5. We are going to hire a soft ball centre for some of her friends.

  1. Her birthday is on a friday. We are going to book it for the saturday if we can, but possibly this will be booked. If it is, what are your opinions on it being at 4pm after school in a friday? Also thinking it might be very busy with lots of other children using the soft ball centre who are not in our party.

Is this a bit much for them after a long week at school? and after a long day that normally includes PE ?

And, also, whatever day we do it. What are your thoughts on number of children for the optimum party? 8? 10? (including birthday girl).

I have had many a weekend consumed by parties and, as a working parent, it has felt like I have never had a break. When my DD was about 5, we once had 3 parties in one weekend Shock

A Friday is the way to go if you can organise transport straight from school for working parents and this as feasable re childcare ie after school club is in school anyway/childminder will just leave you to take responsibility.

Well done OP and MN!!

mckenzie what did they do for food so early in the morning on a saturday? bacon butties Wink seriously though, if the food part of it all works out we might still consider it in the morning on a saturday, then we all have the day left to do other things.

But friday is winning so far!

I don't think it was quite bacon butties (although that would have been nice thinking about how much food normally gets left for parental consumption!) but I seem to remember croissants, brioche etc. I think most of the children just wanted a drink and to cut the cake so they could get back to playing.

yes, I am not too worried about the food, it tends not to get eaten very much, so simple sandwiches is fine with me, croissants would be good for the morning though!

DH thinks friday is good too.
