I was wondering about foil or clingfilm... is there a REASON why it's always in the party bags in napkins?

Skribble, have to admit that was my plan - buy two and cut up and wrap one beforehand (thus excerbating the squidgy napkin scenario but possibly underlining my unfit motherness for feeling unable to cope with the nightmare of 20-odd kids, their parents AND a cake all at once).

Tee hee lucykate, DH is actually a comic book artist so we have enough comics in this house to wrap hundreds of cakes! Not sure he'd take too kindly to the idea of wrapping his artwork round squidgy chocolate, though....

I never understand why on earth people wrap cake in napkins and stuff it in a party bag. It is too wierd.

Why don't you just eat it at the party?!!

HRHWickedwaterwitch · 09/10/2005 13:12

pph, because they're all too stuffed to eat it at the party I think. I asked the boys at ds's party whether they wanted it now or in their bags and they ALL said in the bags. It is weird. I think it's the idea of even more sugar when you get home that's exciting.

Also, if they take the cake home, it's another thing they can use to gloat over their sibling, who wasn't invited to the party. Or is that just my two?

I made DS share his cake yesterday octobernow. Cut it in half and gave DD half. And made him eat half a pear before he could have it. But then I am an evil mother.

I didn't put cake in party bags - we kept it all to eat ourselves!

Yes, I made dd1 share her party cake slice with dd2 - she peeled off a boring bit of sponge from the bottom and was about to scoff all the icing and filling when I caught her and made her even things out!

My ds had his party on Saturday and I made two cakes, cut one up before the party and wrapped the slices in...plastic sandwich bags

I do tinfoil. Don't care what others think - detest food wrapped in paper or clingfilm. Actually, I can't do clingfilm, even at 41!
