Posey, I wish my kids would keep quiet -sigh-
Trouble is, DS1 is sn and doesnt get the world doesnt revolve around him, so ten times a day I'm pulling him downstairs/ trying to make quiet. Dh's preferred system of discipline is time out upstairs, which is OK when he's off work, but I can't when he's asleep, then I get comments about not enforcing agreed discipline when they play up (grr!). And I was up with sick ds2 last night, but dh didnt know that, so when he came in I was asked why i hadn't cleaned up some spilled glitter.
(DH not as bad as sounds, was v tired from shift!)
Point is, he misses out on a lot of the nity gritty of family life, like the two hour wake ups when DS1's sn got especially bad. Or the insomnia I got as a result of the two hour habit.
And lie ins are a no-no, as I have to get kids downstairs so dh can get some sleep, and on his days off he wants to do stuff. I havent laid in bed past 7.30 for at least six months, and don't get to bed before 12 due to ds1's sn, with the wake ups too!
BUT
It was worse when he was on a different shift pattern where he worked 6-2 and 2 - 10 5 on 2 off (no weekends at home), I'd be out at work until 4.30, then he'd get home at 11, I'd be out the door by 7.15...
And at least I never have to pay childcare past 3 / cover school runs when I am at college, as dh can do it for me. YAY!
Swings n blinkin roundabouts I guess.
DH will have to get a proper job when I qualify as a Teacher tho, as would actually like to see him sometimes! But he is looking into setting up a business for then.
