Soaking Wet This Morning - Help

OK am trying to slowly convert to washables and after reading tons of archived posts bought a couple of tots for dd 15mth to wear at night. First night was last night, she woke up twice in the night and when I got her up this morning she was soaked through there wasn't a bit of her tots that wasn't wet. I had white tot, tot booster, fleece liner and a fleece wrap. The wrap appeared to be dry but she was soaking.
Some of you put 2 tots on, she is in size 2 now, if I put a size 3 over the top what size wrap should I get as the one we are using wouldn't go over 2 tots and is the Meos the best night wrap?

Thanks popsycal. I have the ME Airflow arriving tomorrow hopefully and will try it with the tots. Have also got a microfibre arriving today which is also stuffable and uses a wrap so will try that too. I really want to keep perservering. Have a couple of happy heiny's and more fuzzi's arriving today/tomorrow for days.
Just got tots as everybody seems to rave about them but it could just be the wrap that dd is finding so uncomfortable as it did leave a mark on her leg that has lasted over 2 days.
Will keep you informed.

Why not ask the nursery if they are ok with washables? Some nurseries these days are aware of the issues and some have even had training on using washables. We have used washables at 2 nurseries and a childminders. They have all been totally fine with it though there aren't many others who use them.

nurseries and childminders always change nappies all the time IME so the nappies hardly even get wet, so you wouldn't be likely to have any rash or wetness problems there.

starlover · 11/07/2005 10:52

chuffed is your wrap big enouhg?

if it's leaving marks it could be too tight... and if it's tight all over that can lead to leakage.

Chuffed · 11/07/2005 12:17

Fennel I have been waiting until my stock arrives and then I was going to take a couple in and see how they get on at nursery.

Starlover I wonder whether the wrap is big enough even though it is a large which is why the next thing I need to wait for it the new ME wrap to arrive to see if this makes any difference for dd.

Oh the saga....she does love her fuzzi she keeps taking it off the drying wrack and trying to give it a cuddle.

I know what u mean about the cuddle thing chuffed.... jess is forever cuddling her tots bots and going "ahhhhh"

MrsDoolittle · 11/07/2005 13:35

I'm concerned by the markes left by the wrap chuffed. That shouldn't happen, the wrap is only supposed to sit on the skin.
I also doubt your little girl is a 'heavy wetter', I can leave dd in a tots much longer than I can leave her in a huggies nappy.
I think it's just a queation of finding whta is right for you.
I have a fleecy stacinator wrap and I love it - dd has eczema so this wrap is very comfortable around her legs. The 'so simple' wrap looks good too. So I think, as much as I am trying not to, I am going to pull out the plastic card with 16 digits on

MrsDoolittle · 11/07/2005 13:36

What wrap have you been using? I can't see if yoy have said.

Chuffed · 11/07/2005 14:14

The wrap is a no name generic wrap that my mum gave us when dd was born I have one in every size as I have always planned on using washables. Maybe they fit over a folded nappy better as they are supposed to be really 'good' ones but they just don't fit dd and don't fit well over the tots.

Ooooh err! A wrap we don't know....
What do we think girls?

flowerfairy · 11/07/2005 22:25

I think the fuzzi's I'm using at night must be an old design or something as I can't find any similar on the website. But I know what you mean about the leg elastic, especially when i've stuffed it so that ds looks like a weeble.lol.

I have just bought a wee notions(thanks starlover byt he way). Which is really good as you can adjust the elastic around the legs, but you do need awrap as well.

misdee · 11/07/2005 22:33

wee notions are lovely. they are the 1st ones we use when they come off the line.

flowerfairy · 11/07/2005 22:43

I know i had to go and order 2 more, daren't tell dh

vkone · 12/07/2005 14:18

I must admit I swear by fleece at night, I have one suggestion - do try a pad folded terry square. They are amazingly absorbant and easy to fold (fold each corner into middle and then fold the smaller square twice lengthways, then put pad in a velcro fleece wrap, eg Tots fleece), if this isn't enough, I put a microfibre cloth between the nappy and the wrap for some extra absorbancy.

If you are worried about the terry moving, try the Jo fold
I found this invaluable for my 18 mth son

Chuffed · 15/07/2005 09:25

Well I used the ME wrap last night and although the nappy was soaking she didn't wake so she must have been uncomfortable before. The tots actually came undone on one side too and they still didn't leak under the wrap.
Am wondering actually if the tots fit dd right with all the padding, had M tots, tots booster, fleece lining, and a 'microfibre' cloth from woolworths between the tots and booster. I don't really feel comfortable having much less but has anybody else's come undone in the night. dd does move a lot.
