Soaking Wet This Morning - Help

OK am trying to slowly convert to washables and after reading tons of archived posts bought a couple of tots for dd 15mth to wear at night. First night was last night, she woke up twice in the night and when I got her up this morning she was soaked through there wasn't a bit of her tots that wasn't wet. I had white tot, tot booster, fleece liner and a fleece wrap. The wrap appeared to be dry but she was soaking.
Some of you put 2 tots on, she is in size 2 now, if I put a size 3 over the top what size wrap should I get as the one we are using wouldn't go over 2 tots and is the Meos the best night wrap?

understand what you mean MrsD.
Does anybody know if any high street stores have the ME wrap, as I will have to put disposable on tonight as not happy with other wrap now.

Also I have avoided using my fuzzi's for night as lots of people said they weren't as good for night and tots were better but have been happy with them during the day so far have ordered a few more and some happy heiny's too.

dont think they are sold online

kittykins can get one to you tomorrow if you order now i think - give them a ring

lunavix · 08/07/2005 10:46

chuffed - they sell them in waitrose.

Chuffed · 08/07/2005 10:47

the ones in London lunavix? They aren't all that huge.

i use my fuzzis at night with either 2 inserts, or an insert and a fleece topped booster.

no leaks!

lunavix · 08/07/2005 10:50

chuffed as I have mentioned before ds is a very heavy wetter. For example, yesterday I accidentally left a disposable on him for 5 hours, and when I changed him it was SOLID, heavy and leaking. I normally change him every 3 hours, regardless of cloth of disposable.

He started leaking through his tots (he was wearing a size 2 tots, booster and size 2 fleece wrap) so I decided to try a few different things.

We have a nappy nation nappy with a matching booster that is HUGE. It's both a size 2, and the booster is like a terry nappy that you fold up. It's huge, and I have no idea why people would normally use it lol but it does the trick.

Another thing we do is put him in a normal nappy, usually a kissaluv or a thin tots, then a size 3 tots and a xl or size 3 fleece wrap. That also stays dry.

I like bumbles too, you can add a few boosters in the pocket, but as he's a bit chubby it doesn't quite sit right when fully stuffed.

There's a few options. I'm sure using a PUL wrap like the ME or such might work, but I dislike the idea as I'm sure he'd get sweaty (he's a sweaty baby!)

MrsDoolittle · 08/07/2005 11:41

But Chuffed's little girl didn't leak!!
Chuffed - You said there wasn't a problem with the wrap, why aren't you happy with it then?

Chuffed · 08/07/2005 12:00

It wasn't just wet it was just that she had such a disturbed night and I'm sure that it was due to her being so wet. All around her tummy where the nappy meets the skin. She only had a t-shirt on and that didn't feel wet but her skin felt sort of sticky all around the nappy too.
Will look at Waitrose this afternoon for the ME wrap in hope that they have it (not holding my breath though), if not will order one to try. Maybe able to get a micro cloth thing from woolworths on the way home too.

Goodluck for tonight Chuffed.
I would try the reusables again tonight though. Especially because dd is likely to be tired tonight!

Laura032004 · 08/07/2005 12:34

The ME wrap won't help with your dd feeling wet unfortunately - that's just the nappy.

If you get a microfibre cloth, try and get white as the coloured ones run the first few times when wet, and you don't want to spoil your lovely nappies!

Did she feel sticky because she felt warm IYKWIM? DS always felt warmer in a fleece liner / booster which is why I don't use them anymore. Luckily we don't suffer with nappy rash or anything, so his skin is lovely fleece or not.

starlover · 08/07/2005 12:34

would deffo try them again. that way you will know if it was the nappy or just a one off!

Chuffed · 08/07/2005 12:36

Will try again with either the new wrap (hopefully) or the fleece one and the 'natural bots' with an extra booster of some sort.
I will perservere!

defintiely recommend using a fuzzi with 2 inserts though. we've never had a prob with them

MrsDoolittle · 08/07/2005 12:39

That's the spirit Chuffed!! You'll be fine. Don't worry if you don't get the wrap, I don't think that's your problem!

Fennel · 08/07/2005 13:21

if you have problems how about using disposables just for the nights while you get used to washables, and washables during the day?

i agree with the others that it´s partly just revising your expectations of a dry nappy/bottom. maybe even the baby has to get used to the different sort of nappy.

flowerfairy · 08/07/2005 21:26

I've jsut started using reusables at night on ds at 15months and he is always soaking in the morning but touch wood they haven't leaked so far.

I'm using a fuzzibunz someone gave to me, which is fleece inside and out and ahve jsut bought a wee notions which I'm trying to night for the first time. I have stuffed it though with a prefold which I have double folded at the front and used ME popper wrap. Fingers crossed.

MrsDoolittle · 09/07/2005 19:43

Chuffed - How did you get on last night?

Chuffed · 11/07/2005 09:18

Went to 2 Waitrose in the weekend and no ME wraps so ordered one last night. Used the natural tots and 2 boosters and fleece liner on Friday night and although not as wet she only slept for 6 hrs and had awful mark on her leg from the wrap I think. She has slept 12hrs each night in huggies so will see how it goes with the ME wrap.
Am a bit disheartened to be honest.

OP posts:
Chuffed · 11/07/2005 09:19

flowerfairy I love my fuzzibunz during the day but don't think the legs hold tight enough after she gets a little wet to be honest and it would leak at night. Lasts fine for a couple of hours during the day though.

OP posts:
popsycal · 11/07/2005 10:11

why not put her in dispoables at night for now and try her in cloth during the day

that is what i did to begin with and still do on hot nights....

Chuffed · 11/07/2005 10:27

popsycal one of the reasons I want to use cloth at night is she is in disposables all day at nursery we still have to try to convince them to use washables for her. She also gets awful red marks where the elastic in the paper touches her skin. So I was thinking at least that would go away with getting home from nursery getting put into a nice soft real nappy and then using washables all weekend.
If I was at home using washables all day I probably would be OK with just putting a disposable on at night but I really want to crack this she gets a break from disposables during the week.

OP posts:
popsycal · 11/07/2005 10:31
