Are all 6mo this difficult to feed?

DD is 6.5months and is on 3 meals a day plus 4 bottles. She is gaining weight and is happy and healthy. However mealtimes are a complete battleground and usually ends with her and me in tears. Basically she will eat 2-3 spoonfuls ok and then I have to sing to get her to sit still! She will look everywhere apart from me and often is trying to escape from the highchair. It can take up to 50 minutes to feed her - is this normal?? I am at my wits end and am dreading going on holiday as dont feel that I will be able to feed her in public. Help!!
TIA
Bellie

My ds is 7.5 months and yes I know what you mean!!If he is really hungry he eats no bother but sometimes a cabaret act is required to get through the meal.Just bite the bullet and go out for meals our little 'angel' tends to be good as gold when out and about!

I know what you mean about being angels when they are out - eat fish and cheese sauce without a mumour at a friends house!! The caberet stops here too - not sure whether it is my singing that puts her off though

Hi - Found the conversations really interesting, just wanted to add another thought. My little one is 10 mnths now and I have really struggled to feed her (she is my third and I thought i knew it all!). It turns out that she has many allergies and the dietician at the hospital tells me that some foods are probably giving her an unpleasant, pins-and -needly, feeling in her mouth which is why she is refusing to let me put any more food in her mouth. I have consoled myself with the knowledge that she is still breastfed and gets more than enough goodness from that! I also have a better understanding of what she enjoys eating and try not to get stressed !!
