Definitely 1-2

0-1 was lovely, twice

1-2 was horrible, twice (esp 18-24m)

2-3 was ok

Babbity · 19/07/2009 09:23

oops sorry, misread.
I've found it about the same. 0-1 and 1-2 were each easier and harder than I thought, in different ways.

KEAWYED · 19/07/2009 09:25

0-1 OMG felt like I was being hit by a bus every day

1-2 Easier, but felt like I had to be superwoman and do it all, wish I had accepted more help

2-3 EASYPEASY The best by far

I found 2-3 easiest.
But DS1 was a 'difficult' baby so anything from then on was easy.

muppety · 19/07/2009 16:38

0-1 easy

1-2 nightmare really really struggled

2-3 hard but not as hard as 1-2

Reading the above different for everyone. Will depend on age gaps/babies and births I imagine. With ds2 had a cs which did not help.

tassisssss · 19/07/2009 16:41

0-1 was lovely as we were so excited to be parents

1-2 was harder than we thought as dd was a tricky baby, but the age gap was 3.5 years so that was easy

2-3 was so lovely to start off with as dd2 was a very easy sleepy baby, but the age gap between our littlies was only 21m which was very tricky and as the year has progressed i think it's gotten harder (sob). I now have 2 toddlers and that's hard. And we're permanently knackered.

For me it's more to do with age gaps that numbers of kids.

I think 3-4 would be a breeze but dh reckons it'd finish us off!!

Dumbledoresgirl · 19/07/2009 16:44

0-1 was a huge culture shock and seemed hard because we didn't know what we were doing.

1-2 was easy peasy. Not only did we know what we were doing, but 2nd child was (is) the easiest of them all and everything settled down with first child too.

2-3 was quite hard. Suddenly, there were more children than adults. I was very stressed for a long time.

3-4 was again easy. I think if you can manage 3 children, you can manage any number.

kittykat21 · 19/07/2009 16:48

0-1 was easy as he was such an easy baby

1-2 was again easy but alot more tiring! A year on with an almost 3 year old and almost 1 year old I don't think we will be finding out about 2-3 anytime soon!

I found 0-2 quite hard

MegBusset · 19/07/2009 21:34

0-1 was incredibly hard, a total shock to the system. Plus DS1 had colic, reflux and eczema and slept terribly.

1-2 so far is not that bad, DS2 is a very laidback chappie and sleeps OK (thus far!), plus they adore each other. 26-month age gap.

2-3 absolutely no intention of finding out. I'm quitting while I'm ahead!

AlexandraPeppernose · 20/07/2009 10:32

0-1 - ok
1-2 - hard
2-3 - easy

CurlyhairedAssassin · 20/07/2009 10:39

0-1 was hard - initial short, sharp shock, but soon adapted. DS1 relatiely easy though (although I didn't realise it at the time - only in hindsight after the screaming nightmare that was DS2!).

1-2 a total nightmare. DS2 VERY difficult baby (and toddler). At least when you only have 1, there are times when you have a bit of peace because they do nap. But then if you have a second, the times they are napping you are spending with your slightly neglected 1st!

Suppose it depends on the age gap too. Only 2 years between mine. Whereas my sister's got a bigger age gap between her two, and whilst her eldest is at school, she DOES get a bit of "me" time when her baby is having naps.

2-3: after DS2 we won't be having any more. (he is lovely now at 3, but by god life has been tough with him).

DuchessOfAvon · 20/07/2009 10:49

0-1: On the whole, fairly OK. Normal adjusting-to-life-as-a-Mum wobbles and a couple of hard days but generally OK.

1-2: Nightmare. Nightmare. Nightmare. Only now getting it together and no2 is 9 months old. Feel totally conned by everyone who assured me that it would be a piece of cake.

2-3: Have no intention of being conned again. I have shut up shop.

MerlinsBeard · 20/07/2009 10:51

0-1 was a shock initially

1-2 i found extremely hard

2-3 was quite easy really. obviously it had its difficulties but nothing out of the ordinary

melmog · 20/07/2009 10:55

0-1 great, fantastic, lovely, going to have loads more.

1-2 oh my god. Getting better now dd2 is 1 though.

2-3 did I really say I wanted a football team? scrap that!

tryingtobemarypoppins · 20/07/2009 19:57

oooooooooooooooo 1-2 is not sounding good

OP posts:
Frasersmum123 · 20/07/2009 20:45

0-1 Easy because DS1 was a really easy baby
1-2 Awful! Mainly because I had a 6 year gap and so I had forgotten everything and was out of practice. Also DS2 is and remains an nightmare at times.
2-3 Okay - DS2 reacted badly to his new sister, but he is so laid back she doesnt care. She is an easy baby and only really cried when she is hungry. Im bracing myself for when she starts to crawl

plonker · 20/07/2009 21:51

0-1 Soooo hard. A real shocker.

1-2 A walk in the park. A total breeze..

2-3 Easier than 0-1 but more difficult (because of trying to split yourself into so many pieces) than 1-2.

For me, there is nothing as difficult or life-changing as 0-1 ...everything else pales by comparison ...

barbarapym · 20/07/2009 22:02

1-2 definitely. Still recovering 3 years later. I look at anyone with more than 2 with awe and admiration. 0-1 was lovely, everything new and shiny and straight out of the books. DS was a waterbirth and arrived on his due date. I never, ever shouted at ds and used to pride myself on being such a lovely organised mummy with such an even temper. Ha! Then I had dd when ds was 3.5. Poor ds is still recovering too - he has gained a sister and a vile grumpy knackered mother.

Fleecy · 20/07/2009 22:16

0-1 hard - wasn't how I thought it would be, wasn't prepared for the reality of life with a non-sleeping baby, plus we didn't know what we were doing.

1-2 easy - I think this was partly because there's only 19mo between them so DD soon forgot things had ever been different, plus she was still having a nap in the day!

Would love to find out about 2-3. Still trying to persuade DH!

cece · 20/07/2009 22:21

None to one was truely awful (although we loved DD it was such a shock!)

1-2 was fine

2-3 has been wonderful Although DS2 only 8 weeks old so plenty of time to go a bit pear shaped.
