Naughty Step - how do you introduce it?

DS is two, and I like the idea of the naughty step as a parenting technique. I understand the concept behind it, and how to keep him on it, but am wondering how those of you how use it started off?

If I just say "right that's it, you're going on the naughty step" I don't think he'll know what I'm talking about.

Ideas?

And lou007, I wasn't shouting at you, I was being emphatic. It's quite different (and forgot capitals meant shouting).

That was the OP's initial question which few people on here have helped her to answer. Instead most of you are waxing lyrical about your fantastic parenting techniques; Errrr, who asked for opinions on discipline?

I think people are just trying to point out it's not worth considering in the first place.

I hadn't realised there would be so many strong opinions on it!

Thankyou all for your replies.
Gateau, you are very kind to try to redirect the thread, but I confess I did ask why those who though it was a rubbish idea did, so it's my fault the thread went left of centre.

Lou, I also wondered how long it took children to stay on the step. I'd be needing time out myself long before 4 hours!
