I've always found toddlers want to kiss everyone on the lips - each other, parents, friends' parents, whoever they want to kiss - they don't do kissing on the cheek in a restrained neutral manner.

DS kisses me over and over again as he falls to sleep. Is this odd?

Some people have ishoos.

What?! The only reason not to kiss children on the lips is because, well, it's a bit salty...

Muffin, I'm sorry to hear you were abused as a child, I hope you find your own way with your children that you feel comfortable with.

ICANDOTHAT I wasn't being argumentative, sorry if you took it that way - hard to tell by the tone of your post. Just couldn't work out what you meant by a snog without tongues really.

nappyaddict I meant one of those smackers you land on your dc at the same time as a big hug ..... ooooh, we love them. I included the "no tongues" bit just in case someone's definition of a snog would have been 'inappropriate' iyswim. Didn't mean to sound sarcastic, I just didn't get you post. Are you with me now though??

My mum still tries to kiss me on the mouth but I really don't like it, i've been encouraging cheek kissing for years - I'm nearly 27. DD is too little for mouth kisses atm (7 months) but tbh I don't intend to start, however it's impossible to tell the
future, I know I only don't want to do it because of my mum iykwim.

ICANDOTHAT · 26/04/2009 20:44

Trying to get someone's attention .... you should try it

sleeplessinstretford · 26/04/2009 22:32

my 18month old does what we call 'inappropriate kisses' mouth open-tongue out like a little heat seeking missile big grin as she moves in-i've limited her to kissing just us and her sister...
one of my dearest friends and i got talking at parent/baby group when my baby rolled on top of hers and latched onto his lips-we had to slip a finger in to break the seal. as one year olds go she's quite passionate...

nappyaddict · 27/04/2009 10:03

ICANDOTHAT yep i'm with you lol
