We just took the whole pedal off ds' bike then after a few weeks of being able to balance, put them back on and off he went.

pranma · 21/04/2009 14:51

google 'running bikes'there is a whole range

BiscuitStuffer · 21/04/2009 19:38

The ones I've seen in the flesh are all a bit weighty apart from one friend's DD's but we can't make out the make! I really want to find a light one...

Ds got given a wooden one which was quite light - but broke it in half when he was 2.5 - quite an impressive crash at a fair speed (luckily he had the full gear on and was fine) - so ended up getting a Beechrunner which has been great.

Lubyloo · 21/04/2009 19:57

I can highly recommend this and it only weighs 4kg.

poshtottie · 21/04/2009 21:11

DS has the same one as lubyloo linked too.

It is indeed nice and light.

2nd the Isla bikes rothan. V light, saddles goes V low ( 28cm IIRC). Looks like a proper bike too.

DS1 has a Puky bike and he just loves it. He has had no problem picking it up etc since he was 2 and he's 3.5 now with the same bike and still asks to get on it virtually every day.

DesperateHousewifeToo · 21/04/2009 21:41

Dd has a puky from this company.

Comes in 3 different sizes and dd has had no problem with her medium sized one in terms of it's weight.

BiscuitStuffer · 23/04/2009 13:38

Thank you so much everyone. I tried to google the beechrunner but it came up with like-a-bike. Is it the same thing?
The puky ones look cool!

If you are anywhere near West London, we might be selling dd's pink puky soon (can't be bothered to box it up though). Only a year old.

But if you have a ds he might not be keen on a pink bike with fairies on it!

BiscuitStuffer · 23/04/2009 20:38

Ah yes - we will need something a bit more generic .

Why are you selling it out of interest?

DS has a scoot bike though I think they have changed the name to Zooom now. Made by Ridgeback. It's great and really robust/good quality. He has had it since last summer and he has just turned 4. He can easily manage the 2 mile walk home from school on it.

I am looking for one for his little sister who will be 3 in July. She is teeny tiny and atm can't fit on any balance bike but she is desperate for one. I was all set on buying a strider running bike from US but they get some really bad reviews. Check out the videos though they are fab!!

Insanity · 23/04/2009 21:07

Tesco direct in the catalougue, code 205-6369. £38.97

It is a cute little pink bike, also they have one for boys too.

Hope thats what you mean!!

Insanity · 23/04/2009 21:18

here

DesperateHousewifeToo · 23/04/2009 22:11

thatsnotmymonster- puky do a very small balance bike. A friend's ds was rather petite for his age and he had one (dd's one is medium sized, I think). Because the middle bit (technical term!) between handle bar and saddle is so low, it makes getting on and off much easier for little legs.

Am not in any way linked to Puky - although sounds like it from my posts, lol

Biscuitstuffer - only reason we need to sell it is because dd has pretty much out-grown it and is desperate for a bike with pedals (and a seat for her doll). I wanted to get the balance bike in the next size up but madam dd insisted on a pink bike and this particular one only comes in one size.

Dd is 4yrs and very tall, she can still use it for longer but has been ready to pedal for a while as she balances on it (and her two wheel scooter) without any problem.

hhhhh · 11/11/2009 15:49

has anyone tried the balance bike from Tescos. I like the price, but am wary after seeing some poor reviews?

UniS · 11/11/2009 20:18

The Isla bike Rothan is bit more expensive than a supermarket bike . BUT. its very light, goes very low and keeps it re-sale value. We paid 75 ish new , sold it 18 months later for 50. They have sold at Auction for more like 65 2nd hand.

we have a puky too and would really rate it

lukewarmcupoftea · 18/06/2010 19:10

Littleangel, please stop resurrecting these old threads for your advertising. Clearly not working anyway, as the puky seems a favourite!

pranma · 20/06/2010 21:10

dgs has a puky running bike and it is wonderful-he got it when he was 2.6 and now at 3.8 is about to progress to a pedal bike.

We have the likeabike jumper, it's only 3.4kg so mega light and it's fab.

weepootle · 29/06/2010 11:50

However, both dd1's bikes since then have been Islabikes and they really are brilliant so if I was to buy again I'd go for the Islabike Rothan as it's £50 cheaper than the Likeabike.
