When was your dd / ds dry through the night?

We're in week 2 of dd (2 1/2) potty training. She's been doing really well. Although I've no intention of attempting night training, for the last 5 nights she's woken up with a totally dry nappy! So I've stopped putting her in one for nap times but am going to continue with night nappies for the time being as it might be a fluke.

Anyhow, I wondered what your experiences of this were?

1st d dry in day 2 days before 2nd birthday and very quickly dry at night d2 dry at night before she was dry in the day which seems really crazy, thats when we decided to potty train in the day and she took to it like a good un.

Now 11 years on with dd3 it all seems a blur. she is 2/3 and wont even entertain leaving her nappy off for even five minutes, i get really frustrated when friends 1st babies have already mastered it at the same age.

I know i should be chilled about it and that she'll do it when she's ready but at the moment it seems she likes the security of her nappy, and there washables that everyone else said she would train quicker with.

But it just goes to show, kath, that in this instance it's nothing to do with us how quickly they're ready to ditch the nappies at night. It's down to their bodies isn't it?

My experience is that genetics have definitely something to do with it, and possibly allergies as well. My dh, his brother and his son were all very late being dry at night. Dh about 7 or 8, BIL early teens and nephew also around the age of 12! DS1 is now 51/2, and still has wet nappies every morning, and I'm not even trying to get him dry at night. Just imagine if he's the same as his family, I could be up for another 6 years of frustration, so, no, I'm not going there. It will happen when it happens. The reason I'm mentioning allergies is that allergies run in dh's family as well, although nephew doesn't have them (dh and Bil do). Shame that my genes were not any stronger in this case, I was dry at night around 21/2...
