Leaving Baby Overnight for 1st time

HELP! I know I may sound faintly ridiculous given the age of my daughter but I am about to leave her with my parents overnight for the first time ever - the first time I have ever left her overnight full stop. She'll be nearly 18 months by then (next month)and she goes to bed fine with a drink, it will be in her own cot (as we live with my parents), she sleeps til 6 or 7am usually. BUT, I feel nervous already of the thought of her waking in the morning (or in the night as she does sometimes) and me not being there for her and bringing her into my bed for a cuddle and snooze. What if she screams blue murder for my Mum or gets really distressed, or hates me forever?!! I'm beginning to feel like maybe I shouldn't go as it's only a friend's leaving do, taking place 2 hours away, but then I think but I'd love to have a night out, then feel guilty, then feel....argh!!
Has anyone got any experiences or advice that will help me feel less worried as I think I'm just going to have such a miserable time worrying about her it won't be worth it!
Thanks in advance....

Thanks you two, I know he will be fine, he will be looked after in our house and since we have his itching under control he is not needing me for comfort feeds and will happily go to sleep with dh if I go out to the ponies or shopping. I agree, Im probably going to suffer much more than him and will be itching to get home for a snuggle. For those interested we are off to see Monty Roberts, the man they call the horse whisperer. Ive seen him before, but not for a few years but it will be all new for dh.

Well everything went fine. Ds cried to go back to his nanna when we tried to give him a kiss when we left. I rang a couple of times where he gave me a kiss down the phone. He had his tea and went to sleep with no crying or any looking for his mummy. By what my mum said he looked after them Dont know when I will go out again but that is one big hurdle over. We both had a lovely time, it felt abit strange though not having the little man around. Thanks for your support.

Glad it went well and you had a nice evening.

Me too, Joe1. Was the horse whisperer interesting?

Joe1 · 25/03/2002 14:03

Scummy he is fascinating. He has another documentary coming out sometime in early summer so if you get chance to watch do. He is approaching 70 and still flies all over the world educating people that animals and people do not need fear or abuse in their lives. Cant wait to see him again. If you see any of his books, even if you are not into horses, he will change your views (he has one about people too).
