Partly stealing the idea from our chat thread, what has been your best and your worst nappy/nappy related purchase?

My best was getting my XS Sandy's.

My worst was a kiwi quick flip that I have not once used, no idea why I bought it!

lollipop wow - what a brilliant DP! Sounds like he's got the hang of it. My DP is quite good with the reusables, but once put DD in a Bum Genius V3 stuffed with a Bambino Mio, Bamboo booster, and then a Tots Bots wrap

SwampsterQuakesAtTheSight · 20/12/2008 22:29

My MIL one put DS1 in an inside out Tots Bots wrap - very scratchy!

Best: Old style fuzzis - fit my kids well, Snap-ez, poppered minkis (hate aplix), Holdens Landing Dreamscape, Fluff and Stuff Night nappy (absolute genius), Wee Notions Night Notions, Hollow Oak night nappy. Love all my wool covers for night

Worst - swaddlebees pockets - wouldnt hold a dolls wee, some prefolds,

Alibear1 · 23/12/2008 00:56

Best - Bambinex bamboo. Love love love these - using the flushable liner at the moment but thinking of starting using the fleece ones. We do tumble dry though, otherwise they would take ages to dry.

Worst - any eco-disposables. They are rubbish and don't hold the exploding BF poos in at all.

When we go somewhere where we can't do laundry then we take Pampers, we just had a weekend away with them and I hate them even though they are the best disposable I've found. They stink to high heaven and don't always catch all the poo.

mummypig · 23/12/2008 01:46

Worst- Kooshies. I can't believe I actually was taken in by the marketing blurb and shelled out money for an all-in-one. At least I only bought one.

Best - BumGeniusv3. I have about 10 of them now and they are my favourite. But they still haven't persuaded dp to use washables .

lollipopmother · 23/12/2008 12:34

MumFun 'Wouldn't hold a dolls wee!' Haha, that just made me giggle! I've often wondered myself about the Swaddlebees inserts, I've got a couple (but not an actual Swaddlebees nappy) and have wondered about their absorbency.

Have to resurrect this thread to say that my new favourite nappy purchase is my leopard print fleecy Stacinator wrap from Nappyzone .

I love my BumGenius too, mummypig, but DH INSISTS on using Sudocreme with them - how soon before he knackers them?

lollipopmother · 28/12/2008 22:24

Swampster - I can't imagine it'll be long before the cream coats the fabric and makes it waterproof, although if you wash at 60 it might take a little longer. Are those wraps quite thick? I really like the look of fleece wraps but always wonder about how thick they are.

oooo I just clikced on this thread in error, was wondering how moldie talk and pleas for ideas for Baileys had resulte dina link to a nappy website

AlienSwampMonster · 28/12/2008 22:28

I can ALWAYS get a link to a nappy website in WHEREVER!!!

They are quite thick, lollipop but utterly GORGEOUS and (I imagine) very comfy.

Ladylighthouse · 28/12/2008 22:58

For the worst I'd agree with an earlier member who mentioned Huggies, total waste of money IMHO, I've found some of the cheaper end supermarkets own brands far better at half the price so one of those would be my faves with terries a close second. Slightly off subject but still one of my worst buys was those nappi nippa thingies, I know they are only a few quid but I never did get the hang of them in the early days when I was a regular terry mum.

Sputnik · 28/12/2008 23:20

Imse Vimse were absolute crap.
Best has to be my Motherease, and the 4, yes 4 ME wraps that have lasted 2 babies out.

chloemegjess · 28/12/2008 23:50

I used washables but when using disposables when on holiday I found some good ones and they stuck. BUT, now DD is older and has solid poo etc I might try again, to be honest, we stopped at a point where her poo was too runny to be caught in a liner but too solid to go in the washer, was horrible. Now expecting DD2 so worrying about the cost of 2 babies in nappies.

Washables:
Best - Onelife onesize
Also had some very good Nappies for newborns, which I got from freecycle, they were from mothercare (no longer sold) which were meant to be used with a nipper but the lady had sewn on velcro which was good. They were so slim fitting, but still absorbant enough for the early months where you change often anyway.

Worst - Bambino Mio. Bought the whole birth to potty pack. Second hand thank god.

Disposables:
Worst - both huggies and pampers. huggies leaked and pampers stink when wet, very chemically and give my DD awful nappy rash.

Best - Costco own (kirkland) nappies. They are excellent. Couldn't fault them (except the eco line but you have that with any disposable). BUT I don't think they do them for newborns.

needaholiday · 30/12/2008 18:59

Best by far for us are cotton terry Kiwi quick flips and nappyelite wraps. No leaks, no fuss, and work day and night. Not thrilled with the bamboo though don't like bamboo anyway. Best off there's a sale on at the moment here

Worst ever has to be tots flexinappy or whatever its called. Leaked, took 3 days to dry, and the inner started to shed. Waste of money.

needaholiday · 30/12/2008 19:00

ooh, meant to add that the best dispos were lidls cheap ones before they took the plastic off the outer, and worst were pampers active fit as they leaked sadly.

fledtoscotland · 01/01/2009 00:10

glad i'm not the only one contributing to landfill

but best: pampers superdry - very high up the back for the explosive poos

worst: morrisons own brand - rough to touch and leaked within 10mins

rempy · 04/01/2009 13:26

best? without a doubt bumgenius v3. fantastic, have both my 5 month old and 22 month old in them.

worst? bambinex teddies. bought for o/n wear, used for a week sold on. had to wash bedding every day, never mind pjs.
